Sutton. Miss seeing someone scoring headers that blast into the net. Also had a great touch for such a physical player. He'd probably get a game at CB in this team too haha!

Zidane once said Lubo was the best player he ever played with during Lubos time in France.

We've seen some cultured players in Scotland too, though: Larsson, Juninho, Nakamura, Berkovic, Laudrup, Gascoigne and going back further McAllister, Mcstay etc, etc and Lubo was special even in that company. I'll never forget his performance against Juventus in 2001. I also think it is significant that other players rated him, players of the calibre of Zidane and Nedved. Oh, I'm not saying he was the best player of his generation, a Messi or Iniesta; but I have no doubt he was world class and would make a massive difference to the current team.

Same, I'm surprised at how many votes he gathered. Poor mans Lubo.

Spot on. Probably the younger generation that never saw Lubo.

Sutton because we need a player like him in our squad. Lubo would be great in our current team. Naka 12 votes? Didn't expect that

Also nowhere near Paolo Di Canio as well.

Loved Naka as a player but he wasn't at that kinda level.

I loved Lubo when I was wee, I remember Celtic delaying a freekick(canny mind who it was against) so they could get Lubo stripped and on to take it...He missed :smiley-laughing002:

But I was so excited that I ran upstairs to tell my brother(Man U fan) that he was coming on, he'd watch celtic just to see Lubo play. Wee Magician

I went for Lubo.... as someone who is pretty much anti-establishment, I'm disappointed I went for the popular choice.

Cracking player though, would do wonders for this side.

Aye, Di Canio was absolutely class. He was my idol when I was younger. Just seen the gold boots and that was me, loved him.

I can't help but still like him today, even though his views are on a different wavelength to my own.

Sorry, but i dont believe that.I would maybe believe it if he said "one of the best" or something else complimentary, but i dont really believe Zidane either said that exact quote, or if he did, that he actually believes it.
I think he was a cracking player, but im convinced the 2 goals against Rangers when we were all thinking, "who the * is this 33 year old we bought for £300k?" is the main reason he is such a cult hero.

I dont want to drawn into an argument about him as i loved him myself.....but he was not sought after, did not have an outstanding career until he came to us at 33, and even in the 4 years here, he did not play in all the games.I cant remember if hi not playing in all the games had anything to do with injury, but my hunch recollection is that he was not injury plagued and was in fact just not played in all the games. We played over 200 games while he was here, and he played in 94(including substitutions)......why?

He for me is in the luxury player bracket and his contribution would be the same now as it was then.....limited.I would like someone who would be able to play in every game.

I saw Lubo in the flesh. He was better than Naka. I still voted Naka. The poll isn't about who is best; it's about who would add more to the current team.

Naka? No he wasn't. He was the absolute fulcrum of that team. Everything was built around Naka. Far from a luxary, he was essential.

How sought after he was I don't know. Football has fashions too. My love of Lubo goes far beyond anything he did against Rangers. Well, having been lucky enough to go to matches precisely when Lubo played for us, I know he was world class. MON didn't like him because he lacked defensive qualities and therefore was no good as part of a midfield 3. As forbeing a luxury player, he was under MON's 3-5-2; under a 4-2-3-1, he'd be perfect in the Commons role
