    Hi guys,

I'm just going to run a two question survey on Scottish Independence to gage people's opinions on the forum.

    Questions:
"Should Scotland be an independent country?"
"Should an independent Scotland be an EU member state?"

    You can partake here: http://kwiksurveys.com/s.asp?sid=jx3f4at06xrxfgj208978

No we shouldn't be an independent nation. We should hand over all our natural resources over to England and in exchange for them England will do us the huge favour of governing us and letting us store their nuclear weapons for them.

    Everyone's a winner. :87:

Just to be clear, are you part of the 'Yes' campaign or the 'No'?

Pros-The banned bagpipes and tartan will be unbanned
Cons-We'll have to spend our money ourselves.

    Pros:
-We won't be ruled by a foreign state.
-We won't be dragged into illegal wars.
-Terrorists will no longer target us due to British association.
-We will be allowed to profit from our natural resources.
    -We won't inherit British debt.
-We (hopefully) won't be part of the * that is the European Union.

    Cons:
-The English will despise us, as they will have lost their main source of income.
-When the world oil supplies are almost done, we might get invaded by the US of A for our oil. But that probably won't happen.
-I'm struggling here... Anyone think of any cons? Excluding ones that have already been proven false, of course.

A quick summary of them would be:

    pros:

Become masters of our own destiny and not have it decided by an unfair voting system in England's favor, how can 5 million people compete with 50 million?
Each person in Scotland having a higher proportion/concentration of control with our votes and views. I.e. not watered down by the English.
Anti War (not get involved in every conflict in the world so some ar$ehole in an office can get rich)
True control over Scottish Oil/Gas as well as other natural resources
Opportunity to become leaders in renewables
Not under control from England's upper class (Torrie's)
Control over our own revenues through resources, exports and imports.
Representation in world councils. Scotland currently has no voice, people confuse this with the UKS voice and say it would be herd more as part of the UK, That is wrong England's voice is heard more Scotland's is ignored (for example how much say did scotland have in illegal wars such as Iraq? Scotland's concerns about fishery boundaries are not being addressed by the UK to the EU)
A smaller voice is better than no voice.
Trident gone from Scottish shores (nuclear weapons)
International law states the successor state is responsible for all debt not the state who separates, depending on how negotiations go ( I think Salmond will agree to take on a share of debt in exchange for something) we could be debt free.
    Scottish citizenship

    Cons:

The Queen will still be head of state
No EU Referendum at the present moment planned
Currency issues not addressed (i do know it is impossible for us to join the Euro though as we won't meet the criteria)
Banks, I don't see why we would take RBS with us as 90% of its business would be outside Scotland, I think we should start a new central bank for Scotland, what ever the plan is with them, both options create problems.

Honestly but if their was any real cons to independence every country in the world would be in unions. Their might be a few issues short term but long term it would be better for Scotland not to be governed by what to me is a foreign Government

Why in the * is the Queen still the Head of State?

This is like the 1922 Treaty in Ireland that kept King George V in as the Head of State.

They need to remove that part of it. Its either that or you're still kissing * with the "royalty".
