I read it fully. Bit ironic that you're pointing to a press article to disprove the claims of the press :56:. The figures I've quoted are widely reported to be the actual prices paid. What have you got? A sketchy, off-the-cuff approximate figure from Lenny, who (as manager) isn't the one who deals with the money side.

He said it in a press conference prior to a Champions League game! If he's using such a chair to provide "sketchy, off the cuff" information, then it goes against everything i've ever thought of the guy.

I think it's probably wiser just just accept defeat here......stick with Club figures, and take press reports that are as likely based on conjecture as anything else strictly to one side.

I still find the idea that he's plucked some incorrect numbers out of thin air a bit baffling, truth be told.

Never said anything even approximately close to that. I'm saying NL was asked a question and gave a quickfire response: it's possible he's been inaccurate with that. The figures in the press come from club sources that probably won't have been as off-the-cuff. All I'm saying.

Yeah, a five year deal would have been better, especially if he's as good as they say he is, but four years should be enough time for him to do us a turn and then maybe get moved on at a profit.

You asserted that the "Club's money men" have provided exact information relating to transfer deals to the press, while not providing the manager of the Club the same information, ahead of the likelihood of being asked in an official Club press conference prior to a Champions League game.

To me, it's a rationale that I will never understand or believe, but each to their own! I suspect I may be in the large majority believing as I do, however!

Again, not what I said. I don't think for one second that he goes about 'plucking figures out of thin air'. I just find it v believable that, not being one of the ppl who actually deal with the figures, he may have misremembered them in a press conference. Bear in mind, he wasn't actually being asked how much was spent; he was just trying to refute the claim that we've not spent money this year.

Speaking well, the Celtic twitter page is posting his interview as it goes along, sounds ecstatic to be here!

"I want to be the best, and my dream is to play for Celtic and have success with Celtic" good to hear he's not using us a stepping stone already, I expect all players to want to go on to a higher level eventually but it annoys me when they suggest it in interviews when they've just signed. Good luck to the guy!

NB: I am at Celtic, one of the best clubs in Europe. I will do my best for them.

NB: I play in central/defensive midfield but I can play in any role in midfield. I will play anywhere the coach asks me to play.

only reason they are 'widely reported' is because other writers see what the figure is on the 1st article and copy it, reprint it with their own little twist (different header, different outlook on the story/interview) You see it all the time. Alot of these writers give out bullshit information, things like not knowing our players correct name, where their from etc. So why should we believe that to be the correct amount of $? We don't , either does Lennon by the sounds of things as he's giving us an average. But he never said 8 million in his estimate if I remember correctly. (which I can't) :bbpd:

I never said that bit in bold. Of course he would have been informed of the figure! I don't necessarily think it would have been at the forefront of his mind going into a press conference about the CL, however.

EDIT: And hey, as you say, to each their own; it was more bhoy81's condescending attitude to me disagreeing with him that I objected to, as opposed to the actual claim that we've spent £5-6m (although I do disagree with that).

FFS people on TalkCeltic are always getting into pety arguments over nothing and every thread seems to go off topic far too easily. Its so tedious scrolling down a thread to see insults being dished around.

Lets talk our new future star, Nir Biton:50:

    * you.

Serious note, aye ok.:smiley-laughing002: However, it's a forum amigo.....live by the sword and all that.

Watched a 5 min video of him during 3 friendlies he played for Citeh - look good like. Likes the threaded ball through the middle...head is always up....looks to drive forward at any given opportunity.

Doesn't look to have the best tackling technique, but at the same time he also looks * effective by the sheer length of his legs!
