Uh huh, that old tired argument. You'd almost think he was playing for Chelsea or someone. We as a team will not score in Europe. It is not Stokes' limitations, it is failure as a club. Deal with it.

Well its his limitations whether he is a striker or not. You play for Celtic as a striker in any environment you hit a certain amount of goals. As soon as people say he is better dropping off then its time for a change....i would say so

How do you know he's about as good as we'll get? We haven't seen Guidetti or Scepovic yet.

I see what you're saying by its clubs fault because we have to actually play stokes in europe but apart from that you can't blame the club for stokes being *. 2 in 20 ganes us disgraceful given the opposition he has played most of his European he is * even MON has realised this and so has ronnie buying 2 new strikers

Meh, I don't really wanna go on a tirade against our club. We all know our level (or should) after this summer's fiasco. I don't think either player have a magic ticket to super-stardom.

And what level would that be its not the first time weve went out of the qualifiers so it doesn't mean we have dropped any levels

I love stats, they're cool to look at, but they can really blur your perceptions of not bad players. Anyone who thinks Stokes doesn't have it in him to compete against some of the teams we've played in Europe, obviously hasn't been following his career too closely. He's a talent. You'll not dissuade me of that belief.

As for Saint Martin, another poster said Stokesy is injured, so that'd be that.

Hooper (who I believe is our best striker since Larsson) only managed 7 goals in Europe for us in 19 games. He was played in a much better system, more accustomed to his skills, and was always going to flourish. Saying that, 7 goals doesn't look like much - cause it ain't. Europe is * hard. It's rough to ask Stokes to be our main provider of goals in the CL.

Europa is our level, by the way, in case that wasn't * clear by our results.

I doubt he'll be running in the local elections any time soon to be honest

What would * like he'll be out the door ASAP amount to? Why would 'fans' want a consistently good loyal player to leave the club - someone who has a very good chance of being our top scorer for this season?

In my opinion as long as the champions route exists we are a team good enough for the CL we should be beating legia warsaw and maribor teams that operate with 5 to 10 times less money. It doesn't take much investment to make us a champions league team.
Hooper might have only good scored 7 goals in his time in europe but if you look at his shot conversion rate it would blow stokes out of the water hooper didn't get many chances in europe for us but he usually took him more off than not stokes just misses everything
