Stokes started the season brightly however he is NOT scoring goals.

Hooper has been out for months with injury and has just returned to Norwich in recent weeks so comparing is pointless.

Stokes isn't scoring and that is his task. Like a defender who misses key tackles or a keeper that mishandles it's his main job/role to put the chances away. You can't rate him on making great runs alone.

His form has dipped, which merits critcism.

Hopefully he'll re-discover how to find the back of the net and * quick-smart.

thought stokes was one of our best players tonight,. its not his fault lennon plays him as the lone striker when it isnt his position. should have took samaras off before him.

Without being accused of trolling, how on earth did you see him as our best player tonight? What did he do?

I hope your in Amsterdam and smoking some hardcore *.

NONE of our forward line deserves to be considered as one of our better players.

Van Dijk was our only good player, Ambrose played well for 80 mins and then looked bolloxed the last ten mins.

I would say Stokes was our best attacking player though.. If the other three forward players kept possession as well as him we'd probably create more.

    This.

We all know we lack a proper centre-forward goalscoring player. Stokes has never been that player - he is a supporting striker. How can you place the blame on Stokes when it is the board/management who have * up big style by not buying the correct type of player to replace Hooper?

He has been useless lately. I was only ever impressed with him when he played with Hooper as the partnership tbh.

Bring back Scott McDonald. He may not be the best striker we've ever had (far from it tbh), but he had a fairly decent record in Europe. Think he scored against Man United, Barca and Milan

Glad you see how a forum works. Its all about opinions. And my opinion is Stokes was poor. Along with Commons, Sammy and Forrest. His touch may have been impeccable, but after that touch, did he do anything? Was it influential? * Fraser Forsters first (illiteration) touch was great, didnt count for much in the attacking sense.

thought he was by far our best attacker. the number of times i saw him move into space and the man with the ball not find him was criminal. Both Commons and Forest coulda had him clear through. Commons tried to chip the keeper and Forest ran into the defender

Stokes was nowhere near as culpable as our other attacking players last night, but if you still can't see that he is utterly out of his depth at this level - whether as the main centre forward, deeper or out wide - then you are blind. Just because the alternatives aren't any better doesn't mean he should be raised on a pedestal that he doesn't belong.

I thought Stokes did ok last night. OK, a better striker would have taken his chance with a bit more conviction but we are where we are and he's the best we've got.

As others have said, he was much better than the likes of Commons last night.

What chance did he have? I can only mind the left foot shot from a tight angle?

Spot on. It's no slight on Stokes, he's a good player domestically but he's not quite at Champions League level.

That's the one. The Keeper practically picked it up. Was a half chance but one we've seen the likes of Scott McDonald scoring at that level.

I can't remember any goal like that from McDonald at this level, I think he done well to get power into the shot on his bad foot, keeper done well to hang onto it but I believe that's the problem, again Stokes fashions that chance for himself, we have been woeful at working our strikers into play.

Passing, crossing have been terrible this campaign.
