Agree. He was 22 when he joined Tours where he spent 2 years and then went into Ligue 1 with Montpellier. Look let's agree to disagree. For me learning the game in China, Iran, UAE and 18 months in Ligue 2 at the age of 27/28 doesn't inspire me outside of competing against SPL teams.

Made this point earlier in the thread but was shot down for it.

Still nothing to show we are actually interested, but if we are and do sign him he may well do great in the SPL as he looks a very confident finisher but hes previous clubs, his level of competition over the years and the fact that he is 28 this year will surely go against him if we are considering taking him on.

Peter Lawell has always stressed we look for value in our transfers, this guy if he done well on loan would then be hitting 29 and if we then signed him would have little to no sell on value which is where we spend our money.

If he was 21/22 I would be dying for us to sign him but it just doesnt seem like a transfer thats right for celtic. The points over moravcik and larsson being bought at later ages are not valid as we live in different financial times and with our porto/udinese esq transfer policy now.

As for another post, Oliver Giroud is a very average striker and has been poor at arsenal who create such a high number of opportunities for their strikers.

Larsson was 25 when he joined us and moravcik 34 so there is a difference

Agree. Henrik had spent almost 4 years with Feyenoord and we paid £650k. Lubo on the other hand had spent his previous 8 years mainly in Ligue 1 and we paid £330k for him. Would suggest a huge difference between them and Toure in experience but time will tell whose right.

Was going to say that I watched a video on Amido Balde whenever we were linked to him and I wasn't entirely convinced with him in the video saying that 4 or so mins of a video can't really show a players complete ability, but definitely looks very promising

This guy knows how to finish and a lot of his goals are similar to that scored by Henke. Can't say the same about Balde to be honest.

In my, a striker that plays with a * team in a * league and score goals is a good striker. With a better team he would flourish surley.

Monaco Coach Claudio Ranieri Tells Celtic Target Ibrahima Toure To Find New Club

    Sunday, 28th July, 2013

Monaco coach Claudio Ranieri has opened the door for striker Ibrahima Toure to leave the Stade Louis II, explaining he has told the player to find another club.

Toure top scored for Monaco last season as the side gained promotion from Ligue 2 to Ligue 1, however with the principality outfit spending big this summer, there is now no place for the Senegalese.

The 27-year-old will not be short of options, with Scottish champions Celtic having been linked with a bid, while Bastia, Montpellier, Rennes and Saint-Etienne are credited with wanting to keep the striker in France.

"I have told him we will play with a target man and [Emmanuel] Riviere is number two behind [Radamel] Falcao", Ranieri told reporters.

This guy doesn't excite me as much as a few of the other names being banded about.

Yeah, but it depends on the fee and wages. Certainly wouldn't want to be paying 3.5million, but if it was around 2, then it's all good.

If you had to pick between him or Khelifa, who would you go for?
