I hate wasps. They don't seem to have a point to their existence, they just sting you for no reason. Bees will sting you too, but at least they are busy all day hard at work collecting pollen and making honey. They'll only sting you if you threaten them. Wasps though, are kinda like the junkies of the insect world. You can just imagine them gathered in their nest at night with proper junky voices.........."Ah just stung a wean the day by the way......hahah.........quality". Cannae stand them. They should be done away with

    Pollination.

I'm no expert but apparently they are really important for the eco-system.

Bees are on the decline because of GM crops and the like which is affecting the environment quite badly in some places.

I hate the * too, but no doubt there is some detailed scientific explanation behind their existence.

The point of wasps is to be wasps, same as every other creature.

    Just read about wasps.

Apparently they are crucially important for keeping control of the number of ants and other insects.

    They, inadvertently, pollinate flowers.

But their most important 'use' is that they act as pest control - killing pests (insects) that eat crops.

I think they are quite harmless unless you are near a nest, or have sweets or sweet drinks on your person.......which attracts them.
Also, i have noticed they are more likely to sting late in their season.....August onwards, when they may be dying off!

I hate woodlice, soon as it gets to this time of year they seem to come from everywhere, skutteling about the floor

What about midges ? Have they actually got a purpose ?

Rather be rid of them than wasps.

They don't like cigarette smoke. Unfortunately I'm always one of the few not smoking so they all come near me.

If you swat them away hard enough with your bare skin they come back and sting you. I don't know how they do it but they can recognise your genetic make-up or whatever if you touch them and that's how they know who to sting back.

Never been bothered by wasps. Been stung a few times by bees though.

I've like wasps ever since i saw one wrestle a spider to death :smiley-laughing002:

Moths puzzle me too. Read somewhere that it's something to do with the food chain, but surely there's an alternative? Hate those things.

Exactly! As are jellyfish, get rid of them.
