Not as a manager but as a player, is he one of the most under rated footballers of all time?

Never mentioned in any discussions when it comes to the greatest players of all time or rarely when the top 10's are being discussed.

Just watched the first 10 minutes of that and it brought back how outstanding a player he was. He'd be worth upwards of £50 million in todays market with ease. Like a mix of Iniesta and Riquelme; close control, vision and weight of pass are outstanding to watch.

For me one of the best ever.

Very talented footballer, probably doesn't get mentioned as much as he should. When i was younger some of pals who were rangers fans said 'Laudrups the best player in Scotland' i replied 'Hes not even the best player in his house' :smiley-laughing002:.

Great player, we probably dont hear as much about him as he never played in "The Best League in the World"

Same with a lot of great playmakers like him in the 80's and 90's Savicevic, Hagi, Scifo, Francescoli and my favourite Dragan Stojkovic

I love a bit of English bashing as much as the next but it never stopped them praising Maradona, Pele, Cruyff, Di Stefano, Puskas, Brazilian Ronaldo, Zidane etc etc etc.

From what I've heard and from the little I've seen, he was clearly a fantastic player.

Considered an all-time great but not in the mix of best player ever, is the impression I get.

Played for some * big teams as well.....Juve, Barca, Madrid and Ajax.

Was interviewed for the Blackburn job in 2008 but they decided to hire Paul Ince instead :52: :smiley-laughing002:

Hagi was one of my favourite players ever. World cup USA 94 was the first big tournament i had the pleasure of watching and understanding the game and the players were awesome. Hagi, Stoichkov, Bebeto, Maldini and and Jorge Campos where the main guys i looked at and thought they are amazing. There were plenty of others but i loved them during the tournament.

I just mean like the English probably would say the likes of Zola or Gazza were better.

If Lubo never played for us we probably wouldnt even have heard of him.

The quality and intelligence of his passing is absolutely phenomenal. Almost artistic.

Yea that's true I suppose. A couple of weeks ago I saw a comment saying Gascoigne was better than Messi.

Are the Laudrup's the best set of brothers in history for ability? They must be, surely?

He was a fantastic player. I remember seeing him at CP in a pre season game and even though it was a friendly, you could tell he was on a different planet.

    Nah, Neville brothers. :icon_mrgreen:

Charlton's are two proper footballing brothers that would run them close, though, in all seriousness.

I've always thought of him as one of the greats, certainly not underrated in my book.

He is underrated because he was a bit of a stroppy * as a player. His decision to lie on a beach because he thought that Denmark had no chance of ever doing anything in the Euro's has to be one of the worst decisions he could have made in his career.

Both he and his brother were supremely gifted footballers.
