It was more of a 4-3-3 the vast majority of the time. Only switched to a 4-5-1 when we were being attacked from their full-back positions.

I wouldn't say the vast majority of the time, we played on the back foot for most of the games in Europe. So it was more of a 4-5-1 than a 4-3-3 I would say. And Hooper was up top for all except the game at home to Barca when Miku played up to. Samaras was never used as a striker from the start of any games in Europe.

Benfica at home Hooper only played the last 20 minutes and Barca at home Miku was more in midfield.

Forgot about that, Miku played up top that night. Did we play with a striker at home to Barca :smiley-laughing002:.

It doesn't take away the original point that Samaras never started as a striker in any European game this season.

Yup! Played upfront when Spartak went down to 10, wee Izzy had the full left wing to himself.

I said that already mate that he might have went up top when they went down to 10. But he didn't start as a striker that night, or any night.

We played 2 up-front in the Nou Camp before Samaras went off that was the key to our success, Barca couldn't push both their full-back forward and pin us in cause they would leave us 2 on 2. If you don't believe find a video of the game and watch it.

A tactical breakdown of how we played against Barca and for all our other group stage games (except for Benfica and Spartak at home).

For the qualifiers we had 3 up front (Samaras,Hooper, Commons) which became 4-5-1 when we wanted to kill the game off (or when wanyama was sent off)

anyways...apparently we can still sign Russell

I don't need to find any video of the game at the Nou Camp. We didn't play with 2 up top. To be honest, it would be hard to suggest we played with any striker really that night because we were camped in our half for nearly the whole 90mins. The midfield was Brown, Wanyama, Ledley, Mulgrew, Samaras. Wanyama, Ledley & Mulgrew played as the middle 3. It would be madness to play 2 in the middle up against Barca's 3.

We didn't play 4-3-3. It was a 4-5-1 to begin with that could be turned into a 4-3-3 when attacking.

in the daily record again this morning that we are still monitoring the situation and may make in bid within the next 48 hours. They are talking *! They are only guessing that we will make a bid and if we do they say we were right, if we don't they will print that we decided against it :87:

  17. Agreed.
Russell would compliment our team. Balde looks like he is another Fortune.

What, because he is black and tall?

Balde looks far more physical and better in the air, also not as fast as Fortune.
They seem to have very different attributes but I've seen a few people compare them, why?
