No chance, he was a decent consistent player but he was quite average too. Wee bit like a rich mans Naismith. For us he would have no pace at all and wouldnt really offer anything. Id rather have Commons, Commons has more of a range of passing and creativity and ability to score, probably more mobile too.

Cahill was very good at his best but it was absolute years ago.

    I would disagree.

Think he was underrated, if anything. As a box-to-box goalscoring midfielder he was right up there, for me. 156 career goals, 47 in 91 for Australia.

Maybe I went a bit too far saying I'd still take him at 36 going on 37, aye. Only because I can't say I have seen him lately. However I always liked him. Kind of player who would fight for the shirt.

All Cahill is good for now is his positioning in the box and getting on the end of crosses. Good if all you want to is shower balls into the box from wide but a liability for those that actually their Centre Forward to be more involved in play.

Superb technique striking a ball though...

His finishing has definitely got better with the years as he started being the first choice #9 for Australia.

Cahill and Rogic might share a nationality and a position on the park but that's pretty much where the similarity ends.

    They have completely contrasting styles.

I agree, I just wanted to post that goal :56:

Tim Cahill's heading is up there with Larsson and that's the highest compliment I can pay a player. Always been a player I've liked.

As an Australian who has watched a lot of both players, I am shaking my head in bewilderment. Cahill and Rogic are nothing like each other. On Cahill though...many have written him off over the years (including me) but at nearly 37 he's still doing the business. Incredible determination and somehow manages to score goals when they're most needed. Will be a sensation in the A-League - just a pity he didn't come a year or two earlier.

Reading the last few pages of this thread makes me think TR may be the most under rated member of our squad. Seriously talented player who makes us look a cohesive attacking unit thanks to his touch; awareness; flair and technical ability. We have looked a different side the last few games he has featured as oppose to the times we had Johansen or Armstrong in there.

He's unreal at getting an absolute rotter of a ball into feet and turning it into a great one. :56:

Doesn't matter what pass you fling at him 9/10 times he will control it.

Absolute class for much of that. His awareness and touch are on another level. Unlucky not to score a screamer aswell.

Agree, he just offers so much more than anyone else we've got attacking midfield. He always seems to move at the same speed too whether he's going slow or fast, such great balance.
