When I watched NextGen Series, I found him good, like Joe Chalmers. I think he has his place in the first squad !

Joe Chalmers is far too slow. Needs intensive speed and agility training from what I've seen.

He is a little bit slow, but he has a good stamina and he is a good defender !

from what i have seen he looks about the same speed as mulgrew, probably too slow to play left back at a international/champions league level but fast enough to play there at the spl level and fast enough to play center back at any level.

If Chalmers makes it in the SPL, never mind Celtic, I would be shocked.

Never like slating our youth players but unfortunately he is a poor player.

The weird thing is Chalmers was quite big and always played centre-half and Fraser was quite small and always played right-back but Chalmers never grew any more and Fraser grew a bit and they both ended up about 6ft. Now Chalmers plays left-back and Fraser centre-back.

Imo Chalmers is a better footballer than Fraser but he's too small to play centre-back and not fast enough to play left-back. Fraser is probably too small to play centre-back too and not technical enough to play left-back.

Wouldnt write either off but none of them have that good a chance.

Could see them as the new Keith Watson and Paul Dixon.

Paul Dixon is a good left back. From what I've seen of Chalmers he would be lucky to be held in the same regard as Mo Camara.

Chalmers is actually quite a decent player, his lack of height has probably goosed his chances of making it as a centre-back and lack of pace will hamper him at left back but he is a decent technical player who can pass and cross a ball well and hit a freekick. Ideally if he had grown to about 6ft 2 he could have made a decent centre-half maybe still not Celtic class but could have played for other SPL clubs like Danny Wilson.

I think if he left us he could easily get an SPL club due to his history of captaining the Celtic and Scotland youth teams and being a decent footballer. Toshney seems to have done ok with a similar back ground.

Toshney has barely played 20 professional games and is 20 years old, Paul Dixon has won MOTM for his country.

Chalmers is poor positionally, lacks pace and is a poor defender. In fact the only thing he has going for him is he is vocal and a natural leader. Suppose he's like McManus in that respect and he had a good career. Can't see me saying the same of Chalmers right enough.

Chalmers will end up first division level. Fraser looks good to me though.

Best defenders I've seen outside of John Kennedy coming through Celtic's academy are Darren O'Dea and Scott Cuthbert and none of them exactly made it.

Although O'Dea did have a good career with us as it goes; last 16 games and Cup Final winners...

Stephen McManus, for all his faults, was better than darren o'dea and captained us to those last 16 games we were in and won a few titles to boot.

Aye mate. He was but he wasn't the best coming through, O'Dea was injured, Cuthbert was injured, McManus was languishing out as a left back. WGS threw him in the deep in and he swam.

For the career it looked like hewas heading to it is incredible what he done. One of my favourite Tims :50:
