    You're not getting it!

If we're approaching the last few mins of a hugely important match and the players think the odds are suggesting we're going to go through if we sustain the score-draw, then there's an argument for the players falling back and protecting the score rather than pushing forward (and giving the higher paid opposition a better opportunity to put the round thing in our net!).

As we all know, Sammy made us a pen and Kris scored it, so it's all hypothetical, but there's an important lesson here!

Commons also came out and said when Lassad came on he thought he may have been mistaken. In short, he didn't have a clue, which is how it should be. Go out to win was the aim, a draw was always a risk to play for when we had to better Benficas result, so sitting back was never an option.

It was an absolute farce trying to work out what was going on inside the stadium last night. At half time there were people spreading rumours that Benfica were winning 1-0 ("They are mate! Check yer LiveScores app!") even though I pointed them in the direction of the screens which clearly said it was 0-0 at half time.

Then that * cheering. Seen it happen enough times with false info to know not to assume that there's been a goal. The rumours were all over the place, first it was a goal, then it was Messi coming on, then it was Juve scoring. Some guy outside the ground after the game tried to tell me it was because Benfica had missed a penalty (who the * told him that!?). All this because you can't get a signal on your phone.

The point if my story is that Celtic should get WiFi or something involved to stop this madness happening in future.

This sounds good. Was it when we scored or at FT?

Agree with the falling back and defend the 1-1 score. They should have been made aware of the scoreline at Barca.

Funniest thing I've ever seen in football was last day of Premiership 10/11.

Birmingham were drawing with spurs and were staying up but somebody else scored which meant they were going out.

The birmingham players were time wasting and running the clock down as they thought they were safe, and then about 2 mins later with 1 min to go McLiesh starts yelling at them to get up the park.

To top it all off Spurs ended up scoring.

Funny to think that could have been us last night.

    Amazing read.

I don't know what to make of the idea that he would've given it to Lassad if he thought the stakes were higher!

I had 3 seperate texts from folk within the stadium. Phones generally do not work when 60,000 people are trying to access 1 mast that is * at the best of times. Watch the game on their phone :56:

He was being flippant. Doesn't translate very well in written word.

Wether Benfica had the lead or not I would still have expected them to go for the win ( which we did ) regardless. End of the day, he scored it ( just!) And put us through. So for that I'm more than happy :icon_mrgreen:

I thought they were winning too! After the penalty the guy next to me got a text with the score and I began to panic!!!!! It was such an unusual thing to cheer ie Messi coming on! Bizarre but it worked for Kris as I think the ball would have made its way down the Gallowgate if he knew how crucial it was!!! What a great day it has been, today!!

Modern day would have to be Henrik...
Whole place stopped... could hear a bee fart... Commons runs up, strikes the ball... it hits the bar... there is still silence... it hits the ground... there is still silence... it shoots upwards and bulges the top of the net... for a split second there is still silence - then the whole place goes absolutely * bonkers!!!!

They would have known in the dug out, lenny said he wanted to win the game anyway and we did, KC looked too nervous to think barce were winning for me.

My thoughts exactly. As a player you CANNOT be thinking about anything besides what you're doing, which is playing a Football match. Look at QPR vs City as an example of what happens when players hear about scores elsewhere. QPR where holding City well, until they found out that they wouldn't be relegated, then they just stopped playing.
