5 million is easy but the question is is it worth the risk paying for a player unproven in britain.

Jvoh was our biggest risk in years because players like lennon, hartson and Sutton were already adapted to our culture.

Celtic took a risk on gravesen and he didn't meet up to expectations and he has played in england and internationaly

I think he would be worth the risk

 

I see your point but the I think the way he plays and his build are suited to the British game

 

Have a bad feeling he is probably looking for 50,000 a game or something outragious. We wont match that and probably shouldnt. I just cant see him coming here with other CL teams, Italian teams and everything after him. I really hope he comes but I would be truly amazed if he pulls this one off. He is a superstar player with a high profile and I just cant see it. Hope I am wrong but I have always thought this one is a pipe dream. He would be mad to come to the SPL. Would you if you were a world class player used to playing in the sun and being persued by the giants of Europe.

 

According to a danish football site, Schalke have dropped to sign Appiah because he wants a to high wage.

If Schalke04 can't afford him, Celtic can't neither!

 

am sure celtic can exeed that clubs offering maby he demanded a high wage becuase that wasn't his prefered place to go

 

You could be right but I disagree with you.

But I'm pretty sure he could have been at Parkhead today if he have'd prefered Celtic for Schalke04. Why should he travel to Germany first if he wants to go elsewhere?

My opinion isn't better than yours. But I think he already have reject to go to Scotland and/or Celtic already have'd exclused a player like Appiah (and Koumas) either if because of the transferprice or because of a too high wage.

Espacilly now we maybe go for the two italian center midfielders

 

I think that WGS has given Lawell a list & Pistol Pete has went into negotiations with pretty much everyone on that list - whoever comes in will be who was nearest the top of the list after successful negotiations.

If we get to the point of being able to sign a few players in the same position, then Lawell will let WGS decide who he wants in the team, perhaps wages etc... could affect his decision if it reflects on losing another target.

I believe we are seriously in the race for Appiah, it just comes down to how badly WGS wants him - at the expense of other WOW signings.

If Appiah is to be the only WOW then it is very much game on, if we also want to try to sign the Italians & Frei then WGS will need to choose if they all get to the signing table.

Anyway that's my take on it - very important is getting rid of parasite players who will happily sit in the reserves taking excess of £30k in weekly wages like Gravesen & Balde.
We need to get rid of these type of unwanted players before we can seriously offer significant wages & getting rid of parasites is very difficult!

 

I think Appiah is very good and would be an excellent signing. I would be comfortable with us spending some serious money to get him like we did with Scott Brown. But if his wage demands are outside of our structure I wouldn't push the envelope for him. Too much of a risk for a player who has never played in our league or the english league.

The trail has gone cold because fenerbache is knocking everyone back. He'll be in fenerbache colours next season, unfortunately

 

Well he will be away for a few months on African duty.That might also hamper getting rid of Balde,but i still think there is another midfielder coming in.

 

Schalke are about to sign Appiah for 8 mio €.

Thats about 5 and a half million of proper money isnt it? A pretty good price for him but would still have been a lot for us. Think being in the SPL probably ruled us out from the start.

 

No their not he rejected their contract a wee while ago unless they offer him more.
