Very poor form and no doubt the guy is a bit of a *. But at the same time the silly lack of rules on this issue allows it to happen. It isnt "cheating" as some people suggest but of course it is unsporting for sure. It is up to UEFA to come up with a way of dealing with this rather than just leaving it to the players to decide amongst themselves.

I'd have taken a goal like that to progress to the last 16, easy.

If there's one unwritten rule in football then it is you NEVER do what Adriano just did. Disgraceful.

Yeah, if he'd pointed like he was going to return it to the far side of the goal, then when the keeper went over to receive it, he'd blasted it into the empty net and done a total OTT celebration. :56:

I wouldn't and I'd hate seeing it if we ever scored a goal like that.

The look on Adriano's face as well as if to say "What? What did I do wrong? Wasn't anything wrong with that" is just as bad as well and it's little wonder why he didn't get congratulated on scoring.

Maybe to save incidents like the, the team kicking the ball back should maybe just hoof it up the park so it goes out for a goal kick. That way you won't get any more unsporting acts like this.

Just after seeing the video. Just look up 'Luiz Adriano goal video' in google.

Absolutely disgraceful. Then to not let Nordsjaelland score straight after is ridiculous. Felt sorry for the ref because he had to award the goal.

What a ludicrous statement mate. You're deluded if you're being serious.

Luiz Adriano suspended for one match
    Published: Tuesday 27 November 2012, 18.37CET
FC Shakhtar Donetsk forward Luiz Adriano has been suspended for one match for violation of the principles of conduct during the UEFA Champions League game against FC Nordsjælland.

The UEFA Control and Disciplinary Body today decided to suspend Luiz Adriano for one match.

The suspension applies to next week's UEFA Champions League group stage game between FC Shakhtar Donetsk and Juventus in Ukraine. The Shakhtar player has also been required to perform one full day of community football service.

Luiz Adriano had been charged with violation of the principles of conduct (Article 5, UEFA Disciplinary Regulations) during last week's UEFA Champions League Group E match against FC Nordsjælland in Copenhagen.

seen the same thing happen in a south american league a while back. the ref let the goal stand but sent off the scorer for unsportsmanlike contact. ref should have done same to adriano

It's a dangerous precedent they set with this ruling.

He was a total * for doing it, but if it was one of our players I think you would find an appeal being lodged.

Good - he deserves it too.

UEFA & FIFA promote fair play and it would be kind of hypocritical if they promoted that but didn't do anything about Adriano. I know that there's probably other incidents that maybe went against the fair play that weren't punished but at least they done the right thing for this incident.

It's not really the right thing though is it? However you personally feel about it, punishing someone without regard for your own rules sets a precedent. It is like you getting jail without breaking any law just because the judge doesn't like how you handle yourself. but hey, this is the time we live in. Enjoy it.

Sportsmanship shouldn't need rules to be written in stone for it to take place. UEFA feels that they can trust players enough to do the right thing, 99% of players always do, so when the odd * does it, I think it's great he get's punished.

Football is showing less and less sportsmanship these days with all the divers, time wasters etc, the last thing we need is players to stop showing sportsmanship on their own merit.

Lack of sportmanship is just a symptom. Football is a big, dirty, corrupt business. It just amuses me when UEFA and FIFA pretend like they care about fair-play. And as I said, if you can handle people being charged without breaking a law, then fine. I looked at article 5, by the way. Pretty broad terms used there.
