would agree we have been in this scenario before, don't want to be in it again. its tough enough just now, without adding more straw onto the camel's back:celt_2:

Barcelona still haven't officially qualified from the group yet, so they won't be taking any risks or resting big name players. They will hammer Spartak to reach the last 16, no doubt, which will just leave us needing to get the required result against Benfica :50:

I think this will be a rough old night.

I'd take a draw now, but we've been written off so many times that you never know what we can do over there.

If we keep our shape and discipline, just like we did in Moscow and Barcelona, we have a chance.

It's a bit of a free hit to be honest, because a point in our final game will probably be enough, even if we lose in Lisbon.

I agree mate, pressure is off here.. we can have a go and still have the safety net of a home game with spartak. I have a feeling that tuesday night in lisbon might be a bit special... bring 'em on! Hail Hail:shamrock:

carbon copy of the nou camp set up will do for me. draw them in and hit them on the break. they are technically better than us so no point trying to out-flair them.

This approach seems most rational and logical to me too.

Think it'll be a draw. Benfica are a good team, but believe it or not....so are we. Might not be as technical but we have a group of players who on their day can cope with most. Personally I think it'll be 1-1. They'll come at us strong as they really need to win, but if we can maintain the defensive standard we had against Barca then we'll do well.
Hopefully have Hooper, Ledley, and Brown back too. Very important players.

All in, I think that's an excellent shout, imo. Have been saying for a good long while that this match has 'score draw' written all over it. I think it'll be more likely to be 2-2 - just have a feeling. Could well be 1-1 though.

    Brown Kayal Wanyama Ledley Samaras

    Hooper

If all are fit, this would be my team, a strong midfield is needed.
    1-1.

mate if we can score 2 goals away from home against, imo, a really good side I'd be well chuffed.
But I agree I think this game could have goals in it. Let's just hope we get our fair share (and no get beat.)

For a change, it looks like we'll have pretty much everyone available for this game. Izaguirre and Stokes, obviously, quite a ways from being ready. Anyway, I'd lay out defensively:

    Forster

    Lustig, Ambrose, Mulgrew, Matthews

    Brown, Kayal, Wanyama, Ledley, Samaras

    Hooper

Last time around we struggled to create chances, so hopefully if we can control some possession, keep our discipline, and work the set-plays, we'll sneak it.

Or unleash Forrest, Commons, and Watt from the bench to grab us one. :celt_2:

I would play the same tactics we have addopted throughout this campaign away from home ,sit in ,soak up, play dead, then bang hit them were it hurts, we dont have to chase the game here , but i would be telling the players we want to win this group so they have the correct attitude ,.

Why do some people not want Watt to start? He's young, fresh, extremely talented and in form right now. He's also just off the back of scoring against the best team in the world, so his confidence will still be sky high.

He would be one of the first names I'd put on the team sheet for this game, especially if Hooper is still injured and does not make this match.

Not the first name for me but i would also play him , he would constantly hassle their defense and take some pressure off us .
