If you're being honest, the great club teams are the ones who consistently win things - our 1 European Cup win does not put the '67 team with the all-time greats. Sorry but it's true.

For that reason milan, inter, liverpool, real madrid and ajax get my votes.

    Good thread, btw :50:

dear lard 44,I don't agree with you.for example, many would rate the 95' ajax much higher than the 64'-65' inter, despite herrera's inter won 2 european cups back to back and van gaal's ajax won just one cup.

I meant Ajax 71-73 for practically inventing 'total football'.

My point still stands - consistently winning silverware is the hallmark of a truly great team. On what basis is Van Gaal's team greater than Inter's then? Is there a reasoning contrary to what I've put forward?

I have just sayed that winning back to back cups doesn't make a team better.and for example I sayed that van gaal's ajax that won the CL just once are still considered(at least by the majority)a better side than herrera's inter that won the cup 2 times in 64' and 65'.and that fact shows that the quallity and style of a team, are the most important things to poeple-not winning back to back cups!
herrera's inter won 2 european cups but was a negative team.their style of play wasn't that great.van gaal's ajax won just 1 CL,but was a possitive team.many poeple around the world admired and still admire their style of play.and that's the reason while the 95' ajax team will always be rated by poeple higher than the 60's inter.
sure, you can say that in your opinion herrera's inter was better than them.but you can't argue with the fact that van gaal's ajax are widely regarded as a better side than herrera's inter.

I was unaware that people regard them so highly! It would be nice to get a few other opinions on here!

It depends on how you define 'best' as you rightly point out - whether it's about style or trophies etc. I obviously favour the latter.

    It's all about opinions though! :84: :84: :84:

Notts Forest with messers O'Neil and Robertson where suprisingly absent from your list. Considering they are easily the smallest side to win the European Cup, never mind two, and with guys like Robertson in the side they deserve to be mention with the likes of our '67 team, Herrera's Inter and the great Liverpool, and Ajax sides who have graced the European Cup. However all these sides, and Stein's included, play second fiddle to the greatest of them all, the Real side of 1955-'60, featuring De Stefano, Puskas etc

ah,ok dude.I just thought you meant that most of poeple think like you(for example, that team like herrera's inter was better than a team like van gaal's ajax).now I understand that you have just gave your personal opinion, and you didn't express your thoughts on behalf of anyone else.
correct me if I am wrong:86:

Red Star Belgrade 1990-1991. What a team! Benfica 1960s and Barca early 90's could have a shout over Bayern and del Bosques Real

I missing Leverkusen 2002. What a team. They didn't won, but played the best football in years. I also missing Dynamo Kiev under Lobanovsky and Borussia Mönchengladbach. Great teams, who played great football.
