Result was embarrassing, but what really sticks out is how disinterested players looked, slap in the face of all fans who turned up to watch and support them. Can't believe how there are matches where all players play crap, yesterday was just that, half-arsed passes and runs with zero creative spark.

Shouldn't happen again, chance should be given to players like Ibrahim and Watt on Tuesday.

i would say the fans could take a wee bit of the blame here as the atmosphere was dull , hangover from barca was from us going from real excitement to killie at parkhead ,no real backing except from gb ,also miku is not getting used properly by us , he makes decent runs and is not getting an early ball as we are intent on over passing ,barca can do this as their instant control and vision help them ,we lack both these qualities at times.

are passing was dreadful couldnt string simple passes togetrher and give away the ball too easy, we lacked ambition and creativity in the final third always turning back and playing it back wasone of the worst games this seasons horrific

My biggest problem at the weekend was the players attitude. I thought Matthews, Miku, Commons and Ledley were particularly bad and just looked as if they weren't interested. I thought the midfield lacked any creation or imagination and I think that boils down to players taking the easy option of passing the ball back or to the side, and/or trying to play centre-halfs in midfield.

Hopefully it was just a blip as I think in general some of the performances this season have been terrific.

the basic thing is here, every team that plays us will play with five attackers. we play one or 2 up front and that is it never going to kill a team of very quickly, yes we might win some of the games, but it usually takes about 20minutes for us to get the first goal
with this sort of play and we can also be playing catch up more times than not. so we have to play the same and give them a fright 5 v 5 and who have !the better 5
    I wonder

Actually I think the first 20 minutes was the best atmosphere at a home league match this season. There were some people outside the GB signing. But in general I agree with you our fans have been woeful this season.

I don't like when we lose but I can accept it when the players have tried. They didn't on Saturday. It's a complete slap in the face of all the people who work * hard every week to afford their tickets, their travel etc to watch Celtic whilst the players make an absolute fortune for doing what they love. I will never, and nor will Lenny, accept a lack of effort. It's selfish and stank of the players, some more than others, not giving a * about the fans. Much improvement needed, we have to remember that the SPL is our bread and butter - we still need to win this league.

    5 attackers?

You sure know how to get a reaction butch. :smiley-laughing002:

Killie played with 2 banks of four and one isolated attacker and a floater who spent most of time in midfield.

The left and right midfielder then broke quickly when they regained possession and were looking for the diagonal ball over the top.

I don't even think the ex huns played four attacking players against us. Not even Jimmy "permatan" Calderwood played his cavalier fitbaw against us.

Was at the game and was dissapointed at alot of what I saw, not one of our wide players hugged the touchline & if we had of tried to exploit the flanks we could have saw a bit of joy from crosses but this wasn't evident as we seem to try & play through the middle far too much.
The lack of creativity was frustrating as well, far too often our players turn there back and pass back & the lack of movement was unreal, far too many sideward balls rather than looking for that early run and playing people in.
Hope we can move on from this one and it was just a minor blip.

One main criticism of mine is the stagnation of Forrest. He is extremely lazy at times and rarely hits the by-line the way he used to. We need more players that run right to the by-line and cut it back as opposed to constantly cutting inside. The central path to goal was constantly blocked and it didn't work when we cut inside.

I think that is tactics rather than anything Forrest is doing though.

What's the point in hitting the byline and getting a cross in when there is no one with heading ability to take advantage?

The fact Commons and Forrest started on opposite sides to their strong foot would suggest Lenny wants them to cut inside and play short link up play with the forward.

The problem was that Kilmarnock played the game in the middle third of the pitch giving us no room to work in.

I said this to my bhoy near the end of the game that it seemed to me as Lenny was trying something with the Barca game in mind... The lack of runners from midfield and people going beyond the ball was startling, very unlike us.

Could well be, I prefer wingers getting to the by-line and cutting it back, always have - I feel Forrest is the best we have at doing so. Perhaps Lenny is more to blame for this - he should have realised that we were just running in to traffic by cutting inside to the centre and utilised the wings more often - some of our best chances from the weekend came from players actually getting down the wing as opposed to through the middle

if we had to field 5 attackers can they be named i would find it very hard that
as the ones that i think who could be in that class don't get a game very often.
I am not talking here about a player that has been in the box area once or twice a game and that being a corner or such like. if I have to name any it would be Hooper, Watt, Stokes, McCourt, Twardzik, Forrest, and all the named players would need to be playing at the same time and taking turns in on goal throughout the game on attack they would be fit enough to handle any spl team giving Sammy, ledley miku, lassad, wanyama, a shot on the bench , the 4 remaining defenders would be any combination of lustig, mathews, wilson, izzy. we would be a proper team for all games.

So you would have 3 strikers, 2 wingers, an attacking midfielder, 2 right backs, a left back and one centre back?
