hope he goes now, get what ever we can get for him, Hibs would maybe want him back, but there would not be a stampeed if he was up for sale at £400 k
if we keep him for 2 years he then cost us £2.6 mil

I've been a bit out the loop with the football the last week or so, what's this about a hip replacement?

He has a degenerative hip problem and the only permanent fix is a hip replacement

No one will buy him due to his hip problem.

He will not be the last player to have ever retired early due to problems with their body.

Think his final years at Celtic will be Ledley King-ish i.e. training once a week and playing every now and again.

Shame - he really has started to mature and grow as a player and a captain for this club.

if they manage the condition properly, then he should be able to extend his career to the end of this current contract. after that Celtic would be mad to offer another one. he will need to stop playing international football to do this tho.

Same thing he's had for a while though, not something new? All the talk of retirement had me panicked there.

Daft to hope he goes. Who would sign him, anyway? He's got a degenerative hip problem. We don't need to renew his contract when it runs out, it's simple. He's a very important player for us.

Mate I read an interview yesterday where Lennon stated Brown has been a stand out player so far. Taking his hip problem into consideration he may not be a player who is to be relied on in the future. How long does this take to kick in badly enough for him to not be able to play proper football, any ideas?

IMO Brown has been a class act this season, especially in Europe; and he's finally in the past season and a half or so showed the kind of form that got him his move here in the first place.

If his hip problem means he's only able to play now and then and no-one buys him I'd be happy to keep him on as a squad player but only if he's willing to take a much reduced deal. He could maybe do player/coach or something as well as he seems an important part of squad morale as well as being a good player and obviously captain.

He must retire from Scottish national team in order to prolong his career a little bit more.

Think the whole Scotland team should retire altogether ^

Being a player/coach would be good for Broon. Im not sure Celtic would go for that but I could see the Hibees taking him on to do that. Broonys been one of my all time favourite Celts through the years so I'd be pretty gutted even if it came to that. He hasnt reached legendary status by any stretch of the imagination but he's definitely reached cult status.

He should be told to go and sit on his * in the house for 3 or 4 weeks.

His biggest problem is his own boundless enthusiasm, having an injection before every game and then feeling * for 3 days afterwards will be doing him and Celtic no good whatsoever.

He is not a talisman nor can he not be replaced, despite playing well, we can cope without him.

If its as bad as the rumours say tho Hammer Im not sure that sitting at home would do him all of that good. If its not really a "healable" injury and its just barely manageable with injections.. and surgery would most likely put him out of the game indefinitely.. Poor guy.

This is becoming a total pain in *. I really rate brown for us especially in europe. The way he presses the ball high up the park was why we were able to beat spartak a few weeks back. Hope to * he is fit for the barca double header.
