    if a contract runs to december a player can finish out the entirety of his last full season before the club can move him for a fee as opposed to getting emergency punted in the winter window if the contract has run down

    This is great news for the club. Getting Mulgrew on a 4 year deal until 2016 is huge as given he is 26 now it means we will be getting what should be his peak career years. Then to add in 2 of our younger players on extensions through 2016 in Matthews and Forrest is just fantastic. Matthews is still only 20 and Forrest 21 so hopefully they will continue to improve and develop as players over the next few seasons at Celtic. Most importantly that is 3 key first team players on long term deals done and dusted which provides stability and security for the team and the club as well as the players themselves.

    Excellent news. With the young ones that we are bringing through, it would be criminal to let them leave for free. As for the hidden gems we got on the cheap - the likes of Hooper, Izzy, Wanyama, Kayal. It would be devastating if we didn't get big sums for them when they eventually move on.
