Has there ever been a game you've sat and watched a player, gutted that you've lost or that he is ripping you apart but you just can't help appreciate the beauty of his play or just how * good he is.

3 spring to mind for me, Lionel Messi getting 2 goals before being carted off injured. Couldn't handle him whatsoever.

Paul Scholes against us in the 3-2 loss at Old Trafford, the single most devastating central midfielder I've seen play against us. All he needed was about a foot of space or 1 touch of the ball to completely rip us apart with his passing.

The greatest I've ever seen against us though had to be Juan Roman Riquelme for Villareal; he played the match at walking pace and we couldn't get * near the guy. That should be impossible, with him finding Sonny Anderson on every single run he made we just couldn't handle it. That was one guy who was just simply better than us at that point and both Neil Lennon and Paul Lambert were trying to mark him out the game by the end of it and it just wasn't working.

It was sensational and * devastating at the same time.

    Anyone else got any examples?

I couldn't respect that performance though, that wasn't just through pure football. That was a cheating * that was a good player.

Alex Song at Parkhead in the Champs League play off. He played with a cuban cigar that night.

Can also remember thinking we couldn't get near Diaby that night, realised that night that Celtic really need to up there fitness if we hoped to compete at that level. McGeady was the only one who could keep pace with them.

Ooft, we actually contained him pretty well up until extratime. Lenny trying to bring him down on the halfway line and he just completely shrugged it off. Didn't think he was capable of that.

Loved Gordon Strachan's interview on the first match in the Last 16 on Paulo Maldini saying he took Scott McDonald aside saying, look he's nearing 40 he's not got the legs anymore, you can get in behind, he's just a name, no longer what he was.

First minute the ball is passed in behind Maldini, McDonald has a 3 yard headstart, Maldini strolls back practically jogging and perfectly takes the ball off of him, not even breaking his stride :56:

On the domestic stage, I have never seen one player destroy a Celtic central defensive pairing to the extreme where Daniel Cousin annihilated Gary Caldwell and Stephen McManus.

I agree with that and Mark Wilson at Left Back as well....

I just sat every single time I seen that saying, please Gordon, please just put Bobo in there next time :54:

I know mate - team was doing well up till that moment.

But the guy just showed his class, and the goal was magical.

Heartbreaking stuff really, but a moment where you can hold your head up high and say it took a genuine world class player to break you :54::50:

Literally destroyed him. Nearly took Micks head off his shoulders.

Trezeguet in his sub appearance at Parkhead in 2001. Was terrified any time he got the ball.

Couldn't cope with Trezeguet's movement, first time I can remember thinking... might be a weee bit out of our depth with this guy :56:

    That he did mate.

Smith played a blinder that day by just telling him to attack Mick and Heid.

Was that the same season where David Weir and Ugo Ehiogu scored the goals against us at Parkhead? That was * embarrasing :52:

An overhead kick from Ehiogu... Jesus! Think it was.

We were getting destroyed off of them every game until Barry Robson said * this and smashed his elbow into the back of Christian Dailly's head.

That was one moment when I though, * YASSS our attitudes have changed. Never seen a dirtier midfield than Paul Hartley and Barry Robson in that match. Kicked them about so much they forgot to stick the boot into Naka and Naka just made them his *.

    Loved it.

We didn’t sign him until the following season.

Must have been the game he scored V Milan at Parkhead in October 2007.

Robson and Hartley changed the course of our season. Brown was still relatively immature and Donati wasn't up to the physical challenge.

They were physical, aggressive and experienced and Robsons challenge on Dailly seconds into that game really set the tone for the run-in. They knew we wouldn't be bullied that night.

Must have been mate, can just remember WGS talking about it.

I was sure McDonald played in the last 16 though :97:

He played against Spartak Moscow anyway, think that was his debut and that was the first year Gordon got into the Champs League was it not?

Along with the best run of form you would ever see from Gary Caldwell, funny that, 3 of the most unlikely players to be the key components of a Championship win but * me did they deserve it.

Andy Goram - too many games to remember

Will never forget Tommy Burns' quote where he said his tombstone would say 'andy goram broke my heart'
