If I was in that Celtic squad, I would be doing cartwheels still.

Personally, I was a bit disappointed because we have played all of these teams fairly recently in the CL and would have liked others to take down at Parkhead but look at the squad - A lot of them players who could only have dreamed of playing against the best football team ever to lace up a pair of boots. Almost of this team are young players plucked from lower English leagues or thanks to the fantastic worldwide scouts Celtic have.

What an opportunity for them, they will live off this forever, enjoy the moment Bhoys :50:

    Well said Paddy

Some people need to seriously lighten up. We're gonna be playing against Barcelona this season, everyone is excited and rightfully so

I see no reason to get excited about the draw itself. Getting in the CL is a reason to celebrate. The draw is just an informative formality.

I have to say Frank, that some of your posts have led me to feel the same way about you.
Also, without wishing to start any arguments, I would say that you must have been reading someone else's post.
Did I say the results you posted were not impressive?
No - I didn't. I can only assume that you saw what you wanted to see in my posts and arrived at a conclusion.
Now, just so that you and others who may have miscontrued my post are left in no doubt, I will explain it to you:

It was not my intention to denigrate our European achievements, meagre as they have been over the last 30 years.
My intention was to demonstrate to those who appear to think that we are some sort of European giants that we are most certainly not, and that our players, who have been mocked as acting like a pub team for taking pleasure in the draw for the Champions League, do not deserve such criticism.
This thread is not about the team or its history - it is about a bunch of people who weren't even born when we won the EC, and who were mostly still in secondary school for Seville, and who therefore have every right to show pleasure or displeasure at the draw.
Is that perhaps a wee bit clearer now?

Hey - haud the bus here - let's make sure we're agreeing on the same thing here!
I'm just agreeing that our players have every right to be as excited about the draw as we do!
There hasn't been a game that Celtic have played in in the last 47 years that I thought we would lose in!
It might well be a big ask, but by no means impossible. Without wishing to rubbish any of the teams in our group, least of all Barcelona, I think we can qualify.
It is just eleven guys against eleven guys.
Barcelona are not unbeatable - we knocked them out of UEFA cup a few years back only to get punted ourselves by Villareal, so strange things can happen.
Benfica - well, the last couple of times honours have been even home and away, so I would say if there was a level that matches ours, it would be Benfica.
Spartak Moscow - they got * HUMPED 10-2 on aggregate by Porto two seasons ago and haven't won a bean in nearly ten years. If we don't come higher than them I will be amazed.
I believe it will be a tussle between ourselves and Benfica for second spot, and I hope we will get it.
That said, It will either go right or * on the night...

So our European record over the last 10 years shows us up as no-hopers? Do you not remember beating teams like Liverpool, Milan, Man Utd, Lyon, Barcelona, Shaktar and Benfica? That's just off the top of my head so could be a year or so out but the point's still the same and that is: Either you messed up what you said or you're just trying to get people arguing with you.

And we are not as big as we used to be due to financial difficulties but as in being champions and beating what we have in front of us then yes, we are still a big club and teams will fear us at Celtic park.

I also remember getting done over by Artmedia Bratislava, Utrecht and Hapoel Tel Aviv to name but a few.
I just don't think we are good enough to take all of this for granted

    Which I agree with.

I just hope tae * they don't get star struck when they walk on the pitch.
If there is one complaint I have had over the last few campaigns it is that we completely change our game plan when we play away to a defensive one, and from what I have seen, that doesn't always suit us - in fact, it doesn't suit anybody. I believe we are better attacking - I also believe from listening to NL that he has several scenarios in mind when the whistle blows, ie, what to do if there is an early goal either way, what to do if injury forces a formation change etc.
Without sounding suicidal, I believe we should go at teams without fear and get in amongst them - just make sure we don't leave the doors wide open at the back. I thiunk our guys will look at the style and abilities of the teams they are up against as we have, and I reckon they will be confident of going through.

Despite some wishing for us to behave like amateurs, the Bhoys behaved in a manner befitting of Celtic Football Club by hardly reacting at all.

    Well done, I was very pleased to hear this. <!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <w:WordDocument> <w:View>Normal</w:View> <w:Zoom>0</w:Zoom> <w:punctuationKerning/> <w:ValidateAgainstSchemas/> <w:SaveIfXMLInvalid>false</w:SaveIfXMLInvalid> <w:IgnoreMixedContent>false</w:IgnoreMixedContent> <w:AlwaysShowPlaceholderText>false</w:AlwaysShowPlaceholderText> <w:Compatibility> <w:BreakWrappedTables/> <w:SnapToGridInCell/> <w:WrapTextWithPunct/> <w:UseAsianBreakRules/> <w:DontGrowAutofit/> </w:Compatibility> <w:BrowserLevel>MicrosoftInternetExplorer4</w:BrowserLevel> </w:WordDocument> </xml><![endif]-->We will never have small club mentality, regardless of what some people think. <!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <w:LatentStyles DefLockedState="false" LatentStyleCount="156"> </w:LatentStyles> </xml><![endif]--><!--[if gte mso 10]> <style> /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0cm 5.4pt 0cm 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0cm; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-ansi-language:#0400; mso-fareast-language:#0400; mso-bidi-language:#0400;} </style> <![endif]--> <!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <w:LatentStyles DefLockedState="false" LatentStyleCount="156"> </w:LatentStyles> </xml><![endif]--><!--[if gte mso 10]> <style> /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0cm 5.4pt 0cm 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0cm; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-ansi-language:#0400; mso-fareast-language:#0400; mso-bidi-language:#0400;} </style> <![endif]-->

CELTIC are delighted to announce that Tunisian internationalist, Lassad Nouioui has joined the club on a two-year deal, subject to international clearance.

The 26-year-old is thrilled to be joining the Scottish champions, and he´s another great addition to Neil Lennon´s squad, following the recent arrival of defender, Efe Ambrose, striker, Miku Fedor and Slovakian goalkeeper, Lubos Kamenar.

And speaking exclusively to the official Celtic website, Lassad, who spent the last three years with Spanish side, Deportivo La Coruna, said: "I´m absolutely delighted to sign for Celtic.

"Celtic is a huge club with a magnificent history and a fantastic support. I know all about the wonderful atmosphere at Celtic Park and I can´t wait to play there.

"I know that Celtic already has a great squad of players and I´m very much looking forward to joining up with my team-mates. And I hope to play my part in bringing success to the club.

"And, of course, I´m also looking to competing in the UEFA Champions League with such a great football club."

Everyone at Celtic welcomes Lassad to the club and wishes him every success in the Hoops.
