Not Russian. Stalin was from Georgia, in the former Soviet Union.

Racist chants last night - Wanyama

Did anyone else hear the monkey chants last night when Wanyama was being subbed? I've been looking everywhere for more info on it but can't find anything.

Yeah you'd think that, seen a documentary before on Russian hooligans and they abuse their own players if they're not winning.

    Stonewall penalty last night

We seem to get criticised for only complaining about decisions when we lose.

It may be immaterial now but I thought the officials were horrendous last night. We were denied a very blatant penalty at 1-0 when Commons was tripped in the box as he attempted a step-over. I watched this again on ITV last night and unlike Sky, they did not omit this from their highlights, concluding that it was indeed a stonewaller.

Incidentally, the red card decision was also bizarre. As Hooper was brought down neither the ref, the linesman nor the assistant behind the goal reacted. It looked as if they received communication from the fourth – which took over 4 minutes. And while the correct decision was eventually realised, it is shocking that none of the officials on the pitch were able recognise that a foul had been committed.

    I’m delighted we won but it’s yet another very poor decision against us in Europe. Unlike domestic competition, I am not suggesting there is an agenda, but this kind of standard is not acceptable. I’d like to see Celtic lodging complaints with Uefa about this. <!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <w:WordDocument> <w:View>Normal</w:View> <w:Zoom>0</w:Zoom> <w:punctuationKerning/> <w:ValidateAgainstSchemas/> <w:SaveIfXMLInvalid>false</w:SaveIfXMLInvalid> <w:IgnoreMixedContent>false</w:IgnoreMixedContent> <w:AlwaysShowPlaceholderText>false</w:AlwaysShowPlaceholderText> <w:Compatibility> <w:BreakWrappedTables/> <w:SnapToGridInCell/> <w:WrapTextWithPunct/> <w:UseAsianBreakRules/> <w:DontGrowAutofit/> </w:Compatibility> <w:BrowserLevel>MicrosoftInternetExplorer4</w:BrowserLevel> </w:WordDocument> </xml><![endif]-->They have a duty to ensure the highest standard of officiating is in place for such a high standard of football. <!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <w:LatentStyles DefLockedState="false" LatentStyleCount="156"> </w:LatentStyles> </xml><![endif]--><!--[if gte mso 10]> <style> /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0cm 5.4pt 0cm 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0cm; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-ansi-language:#0400; mso-fareast-language:#0400; mso-bidi-language:#0400;} </style> <![endif]--> <!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <w:LatentStyles DefLockedState="false" LatentStyleCount="156"> </w:LatentStyles> </xml><![endif]--><!--[if !mso]><object classid="clsid:38481807-CA0E-42D2-BF39-B33AF135CC4D" id=ieooui></object> <style> st1\:*{behavior:url(#ieooui) } </style> <![endif]--><!--[if gte mso 10]> <style> /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0cm 5.4pt 0cm 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0cm; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-ansi-language:#0400; mso-fareast-language:#0400; mso-bidi-language:#0400;} </style> <![endif]-->

To begin with, i didn't think it was, but Commons ended up putting the ball through the guys legs and then was tripped. I started to think it was a penalty when i saw his reaction, you can normally tell by how the players acts immediately afterwards. The referee was shocking i thought, how he couldn't see that it was a foul and a red card was beyond belief. I still dont know who actually gave the decision. I actually thought he was going to book Hooper for diving, that would have been the usual pish we normally get away from home in Europe.

Bit confused RB, as the red card was shown to the player approx 25 seconds after the foul, which was indeed apparently noticed by one of the officials, I believe?! To be fair, I was approx 5 pints in by this stage, so if wrong I apologise....

RE the pen, I thought the boy had got the ball at first glimpse, if I am being honest with you. Obviously he did not, but although a wrong decision, these things sadly happen.

Too right I was a stonewaller. And think, if we had got the pen and scored....2-0 making it more difficult for spartak to get back into it.

Officials were * poor lastnight, simply just disgraceful.

I didn't hear them either but it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest. I've similarly wondered about the EDL, Racist faction of the Chelski support - what do they make of the amount of Black players at the club?

Big Vic and co. got the last laugh last night anyway :icon_mrgreen:

I have absolutely no doubts the referee was going to book Hooper before being advised otherwise by a third party.

The penalty was indeed a stonewaller, didn't look it at first glance but he had pegged the guy and then had his feet taken away from under him.

Regarding the Hooper incident, I was * my pants cos it looked like the ref was gonna book him for simulation. I don't recall the peno incident.

But also, the players gotta be careful in the Barca game. They are known for getting favorable ref decisions.

In real time it didn't look a penalty to me, I'm pretty sure the defender got a touch on the ball but the replay clearly showed he took Commons out when the ball was past him.
