So you think his stats are padded? That he's had an easy ride to the top of the division and would come undone against Lesnar?

Fair enough, you're entitled to your opinion.

I'm going on the facts though, to help me form an opinion. The fact is that in their first fight Lesnar secured 0% of his takedown attempts, and landed 33% of his strikes.

Overeem defended 100% of Lesnars takedown attempts and landed 79% of his strikes en route to a devasting TKO win in less than three minutes.

Overeem landed 100% of his strike attempts from distance, and 100% of his strike attempts from the clinch, and also 100% of his strikes to the body landed clean.

Maybe if they fought again Lesnar would come in and take Overeem down with Overeem "being able to do nothing about it", as you have claimed. Maybe he'd turn that 77% takedown defence statistic on its head and succeed where others (including him in their first fight) have failed.

Maybe he'd manage to negate the superior striking of Overeem as well? Walking through the shots that have put far better fighters than Lesnar away in the past?

    Maybe.

The stats don't suggest that would happen though, and I'll go with the higher level of probability every time.

Other than Cain, the best HW ever, the only people to cause Brock any problems were people who could compete with him in the size department i.e. Carwin and a juiced Overeem. (OK, Mir got him in a knee bar on his UFC debut too).

I don't think you're necessarily wrong Daibhi, in fact I probably agree with you, but you cannot disregard the fact that Overeem now weighs 40lbs (at least) less than Overeem then. Overeem now is not absolutely riddled with steroids.

This was one of the main reasons I was so confident of Lesnar beating Hunt. People pointed to Overeem and Carwin as reasons why Hunt would beat Lesnar. Well, those two were not completely dwarfed by Brock. That matters.

I'd agree with you if Overeem had taken a downturn since being busted, but he hasn't. He's gotten lighter, his cardio has improved, he's fighting smarter.

I absolutely would not have backed him to manhandle Junior Dos Santos the way he did. He also handled a resurgent Arlovski.

Overeem is a better fighter than he was when he faced Lesnar.

And as I keep saying, it's a fight that is probably a long way off, if it even happens at all.

Overeem is facing stipe for the title in September, and that's a fight he could win. If he does he's got Cain to deal with, and even the likes of the Black Beast who's in the conversation now.

Lesnar is a part-time fighter who's under contract to WWE. He won't be back in a UFC cage until the end of the year most likely, and I fancy them to put together an exhibition type fight at that point, maybe against Fedor or something.

Now that you mention him, Derrick Lewis is the perfect next fight for Brock. Firas said as much recently and I have to agree.

That won't work in my opinion. Brock's next "fight" is with Randy Orton at Summerslam in August, then he'll likely have WWE commitments to fulfill.

He'll need around three months of serious downtime to train for another MMA fight, and I don't think Lewis will wait that long. He's closing in on a title shot now and has to keep his momentum going.

Like I said, a Fedor fight would be ideal for the end of year UFC show for Lesnar. Or even a Josh Barnett fight.

Both of them would be well worth watching.

A year ago I would have written off Fedor Brock as having zero chance of happening but im more optimistic now.

I think it's a great fight for both guys. I think Fedor takes it.

It's ok mate, you don't need to crack out the bold and italics to cover up the fact you're clueless :56:

All I wanted was confirmation of the fact, which I've got :50:

Just a point regarding the 40lbs size difference between Overeem now and Overeem in the first Lesnar fight.

Am I not right in saying Lesnar was given a USADA exemption for his fight at UFC 200? I can't imagine that waiver being in place again for him, in which case I can't imagine him coming in weighing 40lbs more than Overeem.

He would steamroll Fedor. He'd probably steamroll Barnett as well. He would make Derrick Lewis look like some fat bloke they pulled off the street if that fight happened too, which is why I think that will be the fight Brock pushes for. I think if Lewis knew there was a possibility of getting that fight he would hold out for a couple of months.

By the way you're describing him I'm surprised they don't just yank Overeem from the title shot and hand it to Brock instead :smiley-laughing002:

Not an exemption as such but most guys are subject to random testing year round and then if they are preparing for a fight then there more likely to be tested im not sure exactly how much by though.

Most guys will have like 8 week camps, the Brock fight was announced 4/5 weeks before the fight? SO he wasnt subject to USADA testing before then like most guys would have been. I think he was tested a fair few times during that 5 weeks though.

There was a wrestling fan on here who says that the WWE do test for PEDS, given some of there builds im dubious as to how stringent this testing is though.

Im not 100% sure on all this though , thats just my understanding of it so if im talking out my * someone please correct me.

Nah.. Don't get me wrong. I think he would have a really hard time against Overeem, Miocic, JDS and probably Werdum. Cain would take his soul, again :smiley-laughing002:

There are plenty of fighters who would have no way of stopping Brock though, such as the ones I named earlier.

Agree with you Lewis and Barnett predictions but I think Fedor would be a tricky fight for him.

Fedor is so good in scrambles and is so dangerous off of the bottom. Brock doesn't like to get hit and Fedor will swarm all over people.

Fedors chin looks to have deteriorated but this wont be to big an issue v Brock imo.

Mate.. Fedor just had a draw with Maldonado. (Fedor got the decision because it was in Russia). That's Maldonado who got absolutely butchered by Corey Anderson a year ago.

To be fair, i dont think Brocks boxing is anywhere near that of Maldonado. Fedor did well to survive after being caught. I think Maldonado would have floored many a man with that one two.

We both know MMA is not as simple as that.

Fedor is kind of done, but its all about match ups and he matches up insanely well with Fedor.

If they were both in there prime it would be an easy win for Fedor.

Prime Fedor beats prime Brock? No * * :56:

Right now, Fedor wouldn't stand a chance against Brock in my opinion. Maldonado is absolutely finished and he won the first round of their fight 10-8.

Again, it's not quite as simple as that.

Maldonado, whilst not the greatest fighter, is well known for his chin and pressure boxing.

That onslaught that he survived at the beginning of the first round from Fedor would likely have stopped quite a few heavyweights, possibly including Lesnar.

And whilst Fedor is no longer in his prime, neither is Brock.

I'm saying that I personally believe Maldonado is absolutely finished and yet Fedor couldn't beat him.
