I think so as well mate. Big season for him.

I know Lenny wont but I would start him in Finland. HJK have to come out and his pinpoint passing could be invaluable for Hooper to run onto.

We know he's not going to be a regular starter, however if he's given more chances this season, which I think he will be, then you'll see that he is a game changer. He's a player who has skill and passing ability that can win you a game when you're in desperate need.

Forrest is the future of Celtic, he'll quite possibly go on to be a legend. But that doesn't stop the fact that McCourt can do things that Forrest cannot do, in terms of pure skill and moments of magic. Forrest probably will have better stats, however looking at stats is a poor way of viewing the ability of a footballer.

Also the fact McCourt is a crowd favourite, and it's not for nothing. It's because of his skill, it's because of his passing ability, it's because he's the Derry Pele. We're aware that he is not a regular starter. However we love him because he's a die hard Celtic fan, he's one of us...... but he has special ability. If Lennon didn't believe this he wouldn't bring him off the bench when we need something. If Lennon didn't believe this believe me he'd have been told and sold a long time ago.

McCourt is more direct than Forrest, he tries to make things happen with a set position that Forrest has out on the wing. He floats all over the place creating. Forrest will be a starter ahead of him because he's a winger and it works for us tactically to have him playing. However does not mean McCourt still cannot make a positive impact, he can do. And when he is given the chance you'll see that.

I don't rate either ahead of the other, the are Celtic players apart of the Celtic squad.

If you could combine Jimmy's pace and engine with Paddy's skill and passing...:35:

The difference is he is vying for a different spot in the team now than he used to be.

Lenny has already converted Charlie from a LB into a CB, no reason why he can;t do the same for Paddy into a playmaker.

Personally I would still rather commons there and I want youth to get a chance ie Dylan and I think if paddy plays then young talents won't get a chance so for me I think it's better for paddy and the future, if we go our seperate ways rather than prolong the enevitable and hinder the development of others, as I don't see enough consistancy to make a major impact

I'm not even talking about Commons' spot either. More Ki's role, deep lying, spraying passes around.

He's only 28 you know so it's not as if it's some old guy past it that is keeping young guys out of the team.

If Lenny can get the best from Paddy as a deep lying playmaker then I will be very happy.

But ki isn't always a first choice either with ledley kayal Vic and broony all in front of him so just fighting for a space on the bench

I did know paddy was only 28 but he is still older than most our midfielders who I would rather see stay and flourish in the hoops and if people want the youth to get a chance someone might have to make way and I see more opportunity for these guys to make an impact

I can understand this point of view as well :50:

Maybe this is Paddy's last chance to prove himself this season then. Time will tell.

His contract is up and there is no chance in * he'll get a new one and for good reason. If he improves on last season with 1 SPL start this season, it'll be a good memory as he departs for the lower half of the English Championship or wherever.

That's strange - considering we rejected money offers for him, I doubt we would let him leave on a free.

He is in the exact same boat as Loovens, Majstorovic, Cha and all the other guys that saw out their final year...except they all contributed more to us winning the title by 20 points last season. I agree with you tho, we should be selling him this summer to get a fee but ach well.

The madness of that debate is that having watched both of them play for Derry City countless times, you wouldn't have had McClean lacing Paddys boots. If Paddy had James' engine he'd be at Man U or somewhere of a similar ilk. Unfortunately he doesnt.

Well that's complete rubbish. Not even Lennon can guarantee that.
