I would take him back here any day. I know some folk will immediately shoot me down and say that he's too old and we need to keep investing in younger talent, but he could probably still do a decent job for us, even in Europe. He could link up with Hooper, the same way he linked up with Skippy, under Strachan a few years ago.

Purely hypothetical though, as I'm sure his decision is final. All the best in retirement big man :shamrock:

Sorry mate but the guy is really past it. This season at PSV he came on as a sub a few times but the guy is just done. He brought less than nothing for PSV. Think he retires at the right moment. He had great years up here and we should stick with those great memories:50:

Loved Jan. 3 goals in his first 3 games, two being winners, one at OT, awesome! Never forget his later winner against them and the SPL winning goal at Tannadice in 08.

I admit that I haven't sat down and watched him play since he left here a few years ago, but I didn't think his quality would have diminished that much.

If you watch Dutch football, you'll evidently know more about his current situation than I do :50:

Suffered a few injuries over the last couple of seasons. It was the right time for him to retire. Could maybe see him doing a coaching role at PSV. Although, part of me wishes he could just make one last substitute appearance for Celtic.:icon_mrgreen:

I remember big Jan looked immense for PSV when they reached the champions league semi-final. He signed for us two years later and started off looking just as immense, what a goal against Man U at Old Trafford. But then he got injured and came back slower and less mobile, I spent the rest his spell at Celtic waiting for the old form to come back but it never quite happened. Still a good player for us though. Take it easy big man

Aye, definitely. We need a designated player in Colorado, as well.

But haven't seen him in a couple of years, so may not be in the best condition physically.
