How does this work in terms of qualification? Are our lads in it again next season?

It's entirely by invitation only. We are definitely back in next year but Man City have pulled out of next years event. I'm not sure who has been invited to take their place.

We have signed up to play in it for 3 years, next years tournament is expected to contain more teams with sides like Real Madrid and Manchester United ready to take part too.

I really think there would be enough of an audience for TV to pick these games up.

Would be great if they were televised, surely some tv company could afford to show it,wouldn't be too expensive to buy the rights.

Would be great if you could get like 4 groups, make it bit more competitive and longer running.
4 groups - top 2 qualify - quarter final and so on.
Would make for a much better tournament and it's not like there aren't enough academies to make up the numbers.

setanta should pick it up and show it.

With demise of huns, this will be vital way of attracting and developing the best young scottish players.

who won it this year, Barca?

Maybe Eurosport. Eurosport show indoor Football and womens football etc which must pick up less viewers?

ya it would be great if they showed the games on tv. I know liverpool showed some of there nextgen games live on there channel, maybe we should do the same and it would get a better subsription that way so which would in turn generate more money for us

next gen does have its own online channel, but i think its reliant on the clubs providing crews to tape it

just looking at some of the results of the tournament from start to finish and the teams in it have been very inconsistant, the 4 semi finalists are Liverpool, Ajax, Inter and Marseille, Liverpool were destroyed 5-1 by sporting lisbon, ajax i dont think performed too well either until they played barcelona who they beat 3-0!! Inter milan lost 7-1 to Spurs and Marseille who were in our group and we beat 4-2!!

I think whoever wins the Liverpool v Ajax match will win the tournament. I watched the Spurs v Liverpool QF and Liverpool were the best team I had seen Spurs play. Spurs still beat them, but they then contacted the organizers and Liverpool to withdraw the following week when one of their staff discovered an admin error.

Spurs unbeaten the entire tournament, and probably the best showing overall. Considering the imminent opening of their cutting edge training complex, and the new 60k+ stadium coming you can see why some smart money would lay Redknapp taking the England job, as the ingredients look to be really in place for a possible place alongside the super-elite in the next 5-10 years.

Sporting Lisbon also looked very, very talented but less organised.

From what I saw, Celtic can be very happy with their showing, and prospects. I'd rank the best 5 as being Spurs, Sporting, Barca, Ajax, Liverpool with Celtic 6th or thereabouts.

    Hail, Hail.. :celt_2:

we beat liverpool last year by a scoreline of 3-1 although i've not seen any of them this season i'd wager if we had been put in their group in the place of sporting lisbon we would have won it.
