I'm been put on two a day for a totally * knee which stays swollen for days on end. But I'm always wary of taking anything that is in tablet form but especially something that is Morphine based. As a result I only take them when I feel it really is needed and not as prescribed.

Has anyone been on such a drug before for pain killers and are they as addictive as I've been hearing horror stories about?

They can be addictive. I've had several surgeries and for the more serious ones I was given 2x20mg oxycontin every half hour and oxynorm once every 24 hours.
The oxycontin I was getting a bit reliant on (because the dose was getting me absolutely nutted) and had to get taken off it and put on less strong painkillers.
I had some problems with painkillers and it can be a serious addiction.

If your pain is severe you should be going to your doctor because they only recommend strong painkillers for short term use (week or 2) and then try to find other methods of pain relief.

    Hope that helps

Different situations but I overdosed on morphine a few years ago in hospital and I couldn't breath. :56:

Good advice Marie thanks. I'll do that over the weekend.

Believe it or not one of the junkies in the local bookie was offering to buy any I don't want. If I had a good right leg I'd have kicked him in the nuts. The left leg wasn't feeling too great either and I had a migrain. So I peed on him. :icon_mrgreen:

Morphine SR means slow release , You should take them normally 12 hours apart but not any time you feel you are in pain. I would go back to your GP or practice nurse and ask them to assess your pain control and advise you how you use your medication.

The US Army needs you! :56: Joking mate.

It sounds terrible mate. My knee has been really painful for about 10 months now. I twisted it playing football and it hasn't been the same since.

Like how to find a sawbones who will write you a script, how to extract junk from paregoric, and how to "roll over" drunks in the subway. :icon_mrgreen:
