Based on what? A few Vienna fans who've posted in here?

We've had Cardiff fans tell us Matthews and Ledley were * before they signed for us.

A cardiff fan came on here and told us matthews was * when we signed him and that they were glad to get rid of him. I wouldn't always trust what opposing fans have to say

I think people are looking at the Wikipedia stats that are nonsence.

    Vllaznia played 55 scored 30
    Panionios played 6 scored 0
    Tirana played 52 scored 42
    Ried played 82 scored 34
    Rapid played 67 scored 36

    Albania 37 Caps 9 goals

The Albanian League is the only League he has a good record in.

Roman Wallner ex of Falkirk and Hamilton has 40 goals in 76 League games since he went back to Austria. Hes actually scoring at a higher rate than Salihi!!!

Very true and I remember the incidents. But wasn't that after we had signed them on pre-contracts? Sour grapes perhaps. Much like how all the huns were dying to sign Brozek and now he's just a dud to them.

In the case of Salihi, I understand one fan may just have a bad opinion of him. As I said though he has seen him a lot more than I have and if the guy has such a great scoring record and is out of favour at his club then there has to be a reason for it. So I'll believe the Rapid fan for now but if Lennon decides he's good enough then that is good enough for me.

36 in 67 isn't poor... That would put him on 20 goals roughly per season... We have a striker sitting on 3 for the season and he is a first team player... Get a grip ffs

Roman Wallner has 40 in 76 in the Austrian League since he went back after flopping at Falkirk and Hamilton and in Greece for two diddy teams.

Should we sign him? his International record 7 goals in 29 games is also better than Salihis.

The Austrian League isnt that hard a League to score in and his scoring record isnt that good in it.

    The mighty Roman Wallner

Well Jelavic's scoring record wasn't phenomenal in the Austrian league and he has a great scoring record for Rangers. Doesn't matter if ONE striker has flopped or not, that's a different matter:50:

No matter if it is the Austrian league, 36 goals in 67 appearances is a good record.

Nice swerve on what you basing your opinion on. And naw I'm not looking at his stats on wiki.

During his time in Austria he has 89 goals in 11529 minutes. Which works out at a goal every 129 minutes he's on the park. That's more than a goal every 1.5 games ffs and you're telling me that's not good enough? :icon_mrgreen:

But youve got to put the stats into context. The Austrian League is poorer and easier to score in than the SPL. This added to the fact hes seen as a poor footballer and lazy poacher makes his scoring record look worse, considering hes doing nothing but score.

Would also mean hes likely to score less in Scotland and probably not suit the way we play, ie having to play through teams with quick play and linking up.

Jelavic without penalties has 24 goals in 45 SPL games its not that great really infact I dont think its as good as McDonalds and possibly not as good as Boyd, not near Hoopers, the fan the said Salihi was * also said Jelavic was a lot better and had more class.

What are you expecting when you say 24 in 45 isn't that great, thats a goal every 2 games, just under it infact:97:

Im saying what it is lol

I know its fairly good scoring rate but its not £4million worth.

McDonald scored 49 in open play in 81 SPL games for us and cost £650k. So for £4.2million that Rangers paid for Jelavic 24 from open play in 45 in the SPL isnt that great is it?

Its less than McDonald who cost around 6.5 times less than him.

.......According to one or two Rapid fans on here.

And I'd say the SPL and the Austrian league are roughly the same quality, regardless of you using one player who has been poor in the SPL but done well in Austria as proof of the quality of an entire league. Which is ridiculous tbh.

Im not using only that. If you look at the Austrian League top scorers they are all flops from other Leagues.

The current top scorer with 9 goals in 13 games is Darko Bodul who scored 0 in 4 games for Nacional and 1 in 24 games for Sparta Rotterdam.

2nd top scorer 6ft 7 or whatever he is ex Wolves flp Maierhoffer who scored 1 goal in 9 games for them. hes scored 9 in 14 games even though he only started 8 of those games.

The Austrian League is a high scoring League were average players seem better by scoring more. So unless they are battering in a Marc Janko like amount think he scored 38 goals in 30 games a couple of season back then the reality is their probably not that good.

The 3rd top scorer is Barazite who scored 1 goal in 30 games for Derby.
