Premiership fans arrogance has spread to the Championship

play against clubs as big as leeds,forrest and west ham or play for a big club in celtic

 

Allow me to offer a different view:
Celtic: Play in front of 50,000 of the best fans in the world every home game
Be involved in arguably the best derby match in the world
Be in with a chance of winning trophies every season
Play in Europe every season with a good chance of Champions League football
Play exciting, attacking football

Southampton:
Play in a second tier league with your best shot being promotion followed by humiliation in the top tier
No chance of winning trophies with the possible exception of the Championship title
Play in front of an average attendance of 26,000 silent fans at home
Play with players who are largely has beens, and mostly overrated because they play in England
Literally no chance of Champions League football
Put yourself in the market for a big money move to a bigger Premiership club whose bench you will warm for a year or two before fading into obscurity.

 

It's just English ignorance, nothing to do with the league.
The media is all based in England and likes to tell us that the world revolves around London.
So, ordinary peoples' attitudes follow suit.

Leeds - yeah they were 30 years ago mate, Celtic are a club on the up. The only clubs with bigger fanbases in England are Liverpool and Man U.
If Hooper has any sense he will stay at Celtic because there's no club on Earth with a better atmosphere or fans, and now we've got a good manager and team together again, a good run in Europe beckons. That's something Southampton can never say.

And all the controversy around Scottish football has courted Rangers, they are the ones who smash up cities, send bombs and bullets to players, and attack managers - the only bad things Celtic fans have done in recent years is use the naughty word "*" in a banner!

 

Quite remarkable arrogance from a club who 18 months ago were on the brink of extinction.

Most English fans are insecure and have inferiority complex, they are aware Celtic are a huge club and they will never be in same breath as us. Hearts or Hibs given the revenue Southampton has would probably be bigger clubs than them.

By the way, didn't England's top two clubs get * out of Europe by a Swiss mob and mid-table Italian team? Greatest league in the world don't make me laugh!

 

Had to laugh at some of them on there who felt that clubs like Newcastle and Southampton were as well supported throughout Europe and around the world as we are. I would almost feel sorry for them that they will never support a club with real history and such a brilliant reputation worlwide, but they're arrogant wee * and can get tae.

 

Most of the people commenting on that thread are 16 year olds, they don't know much about our club beyond what has happened in recent years, their opinions aren't very valid.

 

Just another example of idiot fans talking our team down without any clue about the history of the club. When was the last time southampton done something ground breaking like winning the European cup or reaching the finals of the uefa cup and entertaining their fans?

Comments like those are one of many reasons why I dislike English football, it's ironic that their fans hate our club but are more than happy to take our players.

 

I must say the sheer level of arrogance and ignorance involved really to me speaks of a lot of insecurity behind all their bluster. But pretty much par for the course English arrogance really.

 

Shocked that so many people are taken aback by this behaviour. I've said it for years and they continue to grow more and more arrogant by the day.

 

Someone from this forum signed up to try and take them on, made a fantastic thread and they're having none of it. So funny to see how unbelievably ignorant they are.

4-play for major honours every season and have a great chance of winning

6-still destroy teams with what we have comapred to down there punching above our weight with what we have compared to them

11- not all our fans have the same postcode to most of them english clubs there too

so bottom line here is they talk *,like to put the smaller countries down to make them feeli better(scotland as always). they forget also if it wasnt for sky bailing them out in the 90`s! they would be * all they are tody. and most players only go to these pansy clubs cos they know they tubes will pay them obscene wages to them.

we dont have to we pay well and the lure of glasgow celtic( a real * football club) these * down there can only dream and drool to what we are and have. money isnt everything. pride and honour is everything.

Live and let live. They are entitled to their opinion just like we are ours. They've got a team going places just like ours and are showing ambition. Nothing wrong with that.

 

Most of the reasoning behind Celtic being a larger club is down to fact, not opinion.

 

Oh yeah I completely agree with that. That's not even debatable. But they are entitled to think they are in a better position to sign players than us. The Championship is ten times the league the SPL is and Southampton are in a good position for promotion. Playing consistently in the EPL is probably more exciting than playing in a few qualifying/group games in Europe for Celtic sadly.

 

No it is not, the quality is sadly lacking in the league, i watch it regularly and fail to see where the hype comes from.

 

Lots of people with a vested interest saying something is good does not make it so. As I said before, tell people something is brilliant and they pay more money for it. The Championship is a * league full of * players. The whole myth that's been built up around it is a tiresome and frankly insulting shitstorm of modern 'spin' capitalism.

The Championship is packed full of players that us and The Huns got shot of. It's also packed full of players who were vaguely passable SPL fodder who neither us nor The Huns were interested in.

 

The Championship attracts far more fans, better pitches, they have better stadiums and they don't play each other 4/5 times a season like we do in the SPL. Outside us and the huns the SPL is dire. I wonder what Celtic/Huns players must think when they're running out that wee * tunnel at Rugby Park for the 3rd time in a season onto the horrible pitch to play in a stadium where the away fans outnumber the home fans. And it gets worse when it's Motherwells and St Johnstones. The attendance is usually no more than 4,000 and the football is dire. The Championship may not be as great as the English would make it out but it's far more attractive than Scottish football.

 

This is true. Still, if given the opportunity I'd sign for, or stick with, Celtic over any Championship side, or Premiership team, for that matter.
