Will Joe Ledley be Dropped When Izzy Comes back ?

Tough one to see how Ledley will fit in. Certainly for the Dunfermline game, I think Izzy will start at LB and Ledley will replace Kayal at CM. Once Kayal comes back we've got a dilemma. For me our strongest midfield (when all fit and on form) would be Forrest, Kayal, Wanyama, Commons. However, this means leaving out Brown, Ledley, Ki and Samaras, all of whom I feel merit a place in the team. At least we know we've got good cover for any injuries, both in midfield and defence.

 

With so many of the injured players now coming back into contention Lenny is going to face a nice selection problem. It's not going to be possible to please everyone but there is a long way to go in this season yet and the strength of depth will be key to our continuing to pick up points and stay in front. You can almost guarantee we will get further injuries and the main worry for me on that front will be if Hooper, Stokes or even Sammy on their current form picks up a bad one. For sure Joe can't fill in there.

Players will need rest periods and there'll be no need to keep asking players to play out of postition or to take risks with niggly injuries during games.

Ledley is one of our best players by far and it's hard to see him being left out without good reason. To accomodate him if fit then I think either Vic or Forrest will be rotated. Having said that with Kayal out for a few weeks that isn't likely. Personally I feel Brown should be more often the player rested I just can't see Lenny doing that. End of the day so long as the team wins games and we win the league nobody will be complaining too loudly.

Joe Ledley is a top player and has to stay in the team.

 

Izzy is a much, much better left back than Joe could ever hope to be. Izzy will get his place back soon enough. Joe in the meantime will slot into the midfield.
