Agreed, Mark Wilson has been a great servant for us but his time has past now. He's not going to get ahead of Matthews and Lustig

Obviously our new Swedish defender is a very shy type:icon_mrgreen:

I could see him being played at CB.

    * that, if matthews remains fit and keeps up his level of play he is our first choice right back, end of story. Lustig may be great but he'll have to wait for an injury or loss of form to get into the team.

:50: spot on. Matthews must play, the guy has the potential to be one of the best, it's funny how the Cardiff fans said he would be *:56::56:

don't agree if lustig is better than matthews then he should be playing he will have to fight his way into the team and same goes for matthews no one should have a guaranteed place in the team and this is what lenny is trying to do

Didn't alot of them also say he was weak defensively? I think he's been immense defensively.

Think it was pretty much sour grapes tbh.

They weren't happy when Ledley jumped ship, and when Matthews went too they probably thought we were taking the *. :56:

Would be my right back order.

So happy we've got such strength in depth now, another couple transfer windows and if we keep the nucleus of the squad together, we're properly ready for Europe again.

I think Matthews has cemented the RB position. The jersey is his to lose now. Cha wont feature much I dont think and will be off in the summer, may even leave in January. We also have Mark Wilson, though he is out of contract in the summer also, and ditto with Cha in that he may leave.

I think Neil will be happy to have Lustig and Matthews vying for the RB slot, with Lustig able to play CB as well.

Defensively he was very weak at cardiff, the championship left wingers used to rip him to shreds. Im happy to see hes improved so much on this aspect of his game.

    I laughed out loud.

He could be a nice piece in the jigsaw, this bhoy. I have a good feeling. The kind of good feeling he gets when he goes home to that wifey. She's alright, don't get me wrong, but not exactly my type...

From what I read on twitter from Rosenberg fans, he ain't a CB in the slightest...

aye i think it's 'marauding RB', all day. He will have to bide his time, tho - Matthews is making that position his own..

I think its probably time now to let Wilson go (down to perma-injury) or at least some sort of pay based on appearances contract and if Lenny renews Cha's contract I would doubt his sanity. With them gone we would be back to a much more reasonable 2 RBs.

We could do with signing a good up and coming LB too IMO.

    Agreed.

Any interview I've seen of him, he's very quick to state that he's an offensive minded RB.

Doubt very much that he'll be used as a CB.

Lenny said he was looking to use Wanyama as a CB preferably, but has quickly realised that he's more effective as a DCM, who can do a job at CB if needed...I think the same will apply to Lustig.

As far as RB, Lustig has said that he expects to be challenging for the 1st team, not that he expects it to be his - the same goes for Mathews no doubt. Very good to see genuine competition for places in the team.
