Can only speak for myself here but I still support him as our manager, I don't want him sacked or anything daft like that, but that doesn't stop me from being bitterly disappointed at his comments though.

I wouldn't say I was being unfair here. Would you?

definitely not, you're entitled to your opinion and fair play for you being able to differentiate between the football and the rest. You just don't see that often enough.:50:

    Frankly? No.

If we adhered to everything the clib asked throughout out history we wouldn't be here discussing Celtic at the moment and that is a fact. We have people on this thread calling me an * because I support them and others insulting there intelligence, due to a snide comment made from a man who I admire but thats a spit to the face of the people who have supported him most throughout last year and this.

Then there is the fact that the GB have regulated our supports song choice more simply and effectively than any governing body in recny years. The PIRA chant has stopped, they've now stopped 'Oh Ah Up THe RA' in a song that has been sung for generations and the witch hat is still on their back.

I stand by my comments, the people criticising them are criticising the eart of Celtic Football Club and anybody who disagrees with that statement hasn't witnessed what they have been doing iver the last year.

Neil Lennon asked for thunder, the Green brigade brought it back in droves.

I still say that if they put the product on the park the atmosphere would return of it's own accord and there would be no need for the GB. The club has to take some responsibility in this respect. That said this could be a turning point for our club ...no one can stop the winds of change anymore than they can stop the sands of time. Society is changing as are attitudes and what was OK before is not now.

The way I see it is we have stopped everything they have asked us to but the asking won't stop, this time next year what will they be after?

They are trying to turn us into a version of Hibs, if we do that the heart of our club is ripped out and spat on IMO and it will do irreversible damage to our worldwide image.

You can certainly be disappointed with his comments. I personally don't think you have any need to be but it's your prerogative.

What I'm disappointed in has been (some of) the fan's reactions to his comments. The way some folk turned on the manager was poor. As was the whole, 'You're not welcome' pish that went on between people with all viewpoints.

I think with the way the club are going they are trying to ditch our Irish roots, without Ireland we are a 'largish' club in Scotland.

It's starting to get harder and harder as it is to attract fans from across the water; we have one big plus for us and that is our charitable beginnings and our link to Ireland. In my opinion that is being damaged beyond repair just now.

If it continues you'll no longer walk into an Irish pub in any city in the world and have a Celtic badge staring you in the face. It'll be took over by Manchester United or Liverpool and the likes. The club may move on from that and want to distance themselves from that but that just wouldn't be Celtic anymore, it'd be a diluted version of the passion that took 80,000 fans to Seville. Chanting our songs on the way and winning adulation all the time, with these so called offensive songs.

Now what has changed between that time and now?

That's just in a business sense as well, we'll lose a shitload of revenue.

Now in my sense, I really cannot see what else Celtic expect of the Green Brigade.

Can anybody answer me what is it they sing regulary or do on a regular basis that they have to actually stop doing?

Don't agree with that at all - the atmosphere was absolutely woeful for years, and that was when we were winning leagues, and competing in the Champions League.

There's just too much folk in the crowd who have absolutely no intention of trying to create any sort of positive atmosphere, and who would rather abuse and heckle their own players than join in with a rendition of Hail Hail the Celts are here. I think that is really sad tbh.

    Fair enough.

This, the amount of arseholes who don't even celebrate a goal when it goes in around me is unreal. I don't care how much they may be paying to sit there, they aren't supporters.

Artur it's been a long long time since we had anything to get really excited about but I do take your point. I can't understand some of the fans around me either.....* I'm fit to be tied on match days. Sometimes I feel that I'm the one taking every kick at the ball. The guy next to me told me I should take a pill before coming to the game :56:

Devlin it's hard to argue with your post too impassioned and heartfelt as it was. I love what the GB bring to the game and imo all the club wants is them to keep showing the club in a positive light. If that means stopping a couple of songs and ditching political type banners then it's not a lot is it? We have a whole repertoire of songs to sing ...surely we can maintain our Irishness.

Jeannie, that's what I want and what I think we have achieved. However I don't think it's enough for the vultures that surround our club.

Is all the new sanctions, the attacks in the media and stuff jsut coincedence after last year? They didn't like seeing the scum for what they are, when high profile Catholics were getting death threats left right and centre. So instead of attacking the disease they are trying to get rid of the symptoms.

I suppose the only consolation is that they will have to be looking at them as well. The law has to be the same for everyone otherwise it doesn't work. Don't forget it was a few numpties that caused all this furore .....for a long time they haven't had any ammunition to use against us. We can prevail in all of this if we keep the head. Whatever we need to restore our reputation in Europe. We are the worlds greatest fans.

    * where do you sit?

I sit in quite a quietish area of the ground with quite a few negative fans sitting in and around me, the kind who wont sing and chant unless were winning 4-0 or beating the huns, but they aren't shy in dishing out criticism even id were only a fee minutes into the game.

Even those guys go nuts when we score though.

And i also don't know a single fan who is against the GB. I think its a good thing theve stopped the "up the "ra chants. IF anything just because it could alienate the English lads playing for us and also give fannies like Bill Leckie Ammunition against us.

We can still sing songs that celebrate our Irish roots without singing up the RA

The stupid banner brought unwanted attention to the club and took some of the shine off what was a good away European performance, therefore I can fully understand Lennon's comments.

Fans haven't been slow to criticise Lennon in the past so I don't understand why people are spitting the dummy here.

I'm not offended in the slightest as I had nothing to do with the banner, or any of the 'distasteful' banners in the past. Personally I thought the spelling comment was funny.

Lennon praised the support yesterday, btw.

The sooner Lawwell is out of the club the better and Lennons comments won't be forgotten! These guys think they are better than the fans and have got too big for their boots.

I'm disappointed in Lennon but guys like Lawwell and Bankier always look down on regular fans. I didn't like what John Reid done in government but at least he respected the fans. There is a real divide developing among some fans and the club..

    Indeed he did.

Like I said earlier, there wouldn't have been too many differences between yesterday's support and Thursday's support, it would have been the same hardcore element present.

so your happy with Lenny Stopping then ??

The comments about Lawwell are uncalled for in my opinion , He is very shrewd in his dealings and has been a credit to the Football Club :celt_2:
