Neil Lennon: "fans let us down"

I have spent the last 10years teaching my work mates we are not the same as the huns.(working in england).
I know without a doubt come monday all i will get all day is....see the * celtic are just like the huns...flares and banners and getting banned for life.

It takes 80,000 to win a award but only one to get a bad reputation.:bbpd:

 

The banner didn't steal the spotlight, I never gave it another thought. The media and Celtic themselves put the spotlight on the banner!

The performance was ok but Lennon was making out we were immense. Udinese where there for the taking and his team couldn't close the deal.

 

I am sorry but the people who have not just shamed NL but the WHOLE Celtic support deserve to be criticised publicly. They deal in the public showing of banners. They feel that they have the right to spout their nonsense, so people have the right to criticise them publicly! The dont represent me in loads of the * that they put up but I get tarnished with their * name.

Lennon wasnt criticising the WHOLE support. He criticised the numpties that held up the banner and threw the flare. Well worth getting a public slapdown TBH.

See that's the problem ignorant people that believe everything they read, "we don't care what the animals say".

It was more like 100,000 and a lot of the guys I know who were in sevile don't go to the games anymore, because the club doesn't give a * about the fans. They just want us to go pay top dollar, sit on our seat, no criticism, and be quiet.

Thats quite a leap of faith, if you ask most people what they think he meant they will tell you he was having a dig a the GB. Really thats the only part of lennys comment that i have a problem with and seems to be what most other fans have a problem with. The banner was dumb and not too clever or funny but i don't think it was really that big of a deal and it could have just been shrugged off. this whole controversy never really got going until lennon and lawell came out with their comments.

 

I know mate but he has given himself a pat on the back for basically failing to progress in Europe. We could have been 2-0 up at half time, they definitely where there to be taken.

We had a good travelling reputation for amount of fans we took. But our fans were not especially liked by other fans in England due to the IRA chants.

Our reputation sored after Seville. At that point in time there were no Rebel songs sung at CP. The likes of the banners that are being unfurled and have been unfurled recently were not there either. So your point falls down on all counts.

Celtic have to make a big deal of it now as the world has moved on from the IRA / troubles days. In N. Ireland they are even trying to move on from it. Why is it that its only Scottish based Celtic fans that feel the need to sing IRA songs at a football match? The media are also all over this now. Our name is being dragged down all over the world thanks to the worldwide spread of news.

 

If Lennon wins the league will your feelings towards him change?

y is everyone assuming that because he criticised this one fan hes having a go at the gb?

as far as i know hes very supportive of the Green Brigade.

 

OK so what would you have celtic do,break the rules and let the fans do as they please,sing anything stand and what the * why not the odd bonfire for winter games.
Then the sfa or eufa fine them,and when that does not work ban them and if the end boot them out of their leagues and cup.
What do celtic do then....? first 11 against the kids every week.
Ok thats a bit dramatic but when you fight the system the system normally gets what it wants.
In the end we/celtic have a choice...play by there rules of get to * out.

 

I feel the exact same.

"we dont care what the animals say..." only works when you are not acting like animals yourself. Many on here are quick to tell people there is no such thing as the old firm and complain we always get tarred with the same brush. Well there doesnt seem to be too much of a difference between our idiot fringes nowadays sadly

You are saying because our Fans have a banner saying * UEFA,and sing Rebels,we are equal to the Hun breed who destroyed Manchester,sing bigoted songs and are generally a cold house for a certain religion.

Football in Scotland is dying, no money, falling attendances, overpriced product and criminalization of fans.

 

Why do you have a problem with him having a go at the GB? They have had countless banners that are spelt wrong, so its not really a great dig. It is the media who are driving this and Celtic have to respond. They have to show that they are against anything that makes Celtic as a whole look bad.

 

The country is slowly catching up with us, I'd say. We've never been the problem. The huns are being made to weed out their sectarian and vile chants. There's no reason for us to change.

Unless you agree with the bill, Celtic's recent statements and the heavy-handed policing.

 

The point is everyone else will see us as the same as them.....a 20sec video clip on the news with the banner and the flare will do us alot of damage outside scotland.
