Calm down mate im not a member of the GB and i wasnt behind that banner but the previous poster came across as saying that being anti poppy was somehow wrong. Also feel i have to add in my two cents that us wearing the poppy is as much of a political statement as the GB protesting it.

I wasn't aware that only a small minority were behind him in his darkest days last season. Every fan , to a man was behind him. Your statement is nonsense. You speak like he owes you his life.

That's true. The small minority are the ones who have been making snidey comments against him since the Ross County game, not supporting him.

He's spoken many many times how much he loves the Celtic fans. They do something stupid and he criticises them and rightly so. He has to show he doesn't agree with what they have done for obvious reasons.

gota laugh at those on here hating on lennon for his comment 'im surprised they got the spelling right' .

what lennon obviously meant was the fellas who made the banner have a child like mindset.

Lennon has given so much praise publically to the fans since his time as manager, particularly the GB. People seem to forget that , and some now have digs at him for his comments, when most of the celtic support agree with him . They let the club down , simple as.

Everyone was behind him, including these fans. Therefore his snide dig at the Green Brigade, particularly considering all the good they done for him, seems selfish to me.

Cannot believe the flack that is being directed at the GB right now. A week ago everyone was raving about them but that all seems to have been forgotten. If I was them I wouldn't bother supporting the team at the next home game as the manager seems to think that they are not needed. Let's see what happens then, will all these 'fans' calling for them to be banned/jailed/hung get behind the team? I think not.

It's nice to have them most of the time but Celtic Football Club will survive with or without them :50:

Seems odd that if the fans were supporting Lennon they would bring a banner like that to the game when he explicitly said before the game that they shouldn't do anything like that because UEFA were watching us. Doesn't seem like supporting Lennon's judgement to me. And the spelling comment was directed at them for the child-like mindset they showed in displaying the banner despite the caution beforehand, it was not directed at the whole celtic support as is shown by "99.9% of celtic fans are good fans".

inteview with neil lennon ,wots your thoughts on the game tonight neil , well i thought we played magnificent and am really proud of the lads ,wot about the banner the fans displayed after being fined for ira chanting, thats not gonna go down well with uefa, no comment i am only here to talk about football matters .

headlines ,lennon would not slate fans who sing songs of hatred .

of course he is gonna comment on the actions of some fans who seem intent on being seen and heard for their stupidity, its precisely this that stopped more action being taken on celtic from both sfa and uefa ,celtic is being forced by media attention given to this and now government policy also .

last time i looked we were a club founded on charity for the poor ,why did it change to being a club more known to support the ira .

The banner was a daft idea anyone with sense should know this, UEFA will no doubt have been watching and listening given the recent fine but all the banner has done is fanned the flames and divided the support again.

We need to be as one, too many things behind the scenes are happening and I'd dread to see it affecting the team, we need that title back as these Huns are to much above their station.

I think Lennon was right in what he said. The Green Brigade are great, but they do stupid things. Its right that Lennon bigs them up when they are doing well and shoots them down when they do something so monumentally stupid. What where they thinking? Celtic were right to be fined. Celtic acknowledge this and that is the reason they wont appeal the fine. Surely the GB must realise that singing Oh ah up the ra is wrong!?

We dont know if the guy who through the flare was a GB member so cant really slate them for that.

And the comment about the spelling is because they have put out countless banners that have been spelt wrong.

They are in danger of really breaking up the support here. They will feel hard done by and then a division will no doubt start between fans. That would be the worst thing that could happen as when they concentrate on creating an atmosphere at CP they are brilliant.

Actually that statement gives them too much power. I've been thinking about this thing about the fans being already divided and I've said it a few times myself but it might not be so much that. Rather I think that whilst we enjoy the GB ramping up the atmosphere a lot of us are ambivalent as to whether they're there or not.

I hate all this political * that's been dragged into Parkhead over the last 5 years. Don't get me wrong i think the atmosphere that the Green Brigade have brought to CP is amazing. They have introduced non bigoted songs and chants (like just can't get enough) that have re-ignited the whole support, however on the other hand they continue to breed a hand full of fans who do nothing but tarnish the clubs good name!

Why do these small minded people continue to produce controversial banners and sing pro-IRA songs that fill the papers week in, week out? u claim to be the fans that are responsible for Lennon being in a job? This is utter bullshit! Lennon deserves to be in the job because he has built a young squad with a bright future and has dealt with off the field issues that would have seen any other manager resign.

Lennon has continued to fight these brainless morons who have made his life a living * for the last 10-20 years! He knows the values that make Celtic Football Club one of the best football clubs in the world and i believe he is saddened by the actions of this small group of supporters, as they represent the same hatred and bigoted actions he has been a victim of his whole life!

Many fans will say we have the freedom of speech... this might be the case, but we are not oppressed or hunger strikers! We are Celtic fans following a fantastic football team! The British army do not affect our lives on a daily basis! We all have an Irish background to our families, myself included, but none of us have been a victim of the oppression on the level that these songs signify! And the fans/people that have seen such troubles, like Lennon, will be the ones who are disgusted by the actions of these fans!

The majority Irish people are trying to move on from the dark days of their history. why can't we as Celtic fans?

    Hail hail, Neil Lennon.:shamrock:

Lenny's comment was purely for the 'we'll go the football and say, sing and do what we want brigade' who seem to have a higher priority to thier own agenda than anything that involves Celtic Football Club. They want to have a free hand to do what they want and if they are going to take offence at someone daring to speak out against them and criticise thier actions then that's just total hypocrisy on thier part for me.

Im fuming at the comments he has made 'the club has worked hard to build a reputation in europe' it was the fans that built this reputation. Singing the very songs they have been fined for, with no defense from the club.
I have never slated NL but defended him when he was being hounded for his results. Fans calling for him to be sacked and should not be near our club. A rookie manager, this club is to big for him etc. But now even though our results have come good (as i believed they would) i have lost faith in him. Fans have a right to be angry if they believe they have been wronged and the very club they love encourage that wrong by not defending them.

Im fuming at PL at the comments he made 'a milliant minority of the GB'. * of pete you blame the gb at every conner. We the fans know your agenda. * off!

Its the plc that are ruining our club not the fans.
