Now that's a very telling statement .......is this becoming about power? Do you think that the GB are bigger than the club? Not being smart just interested :celt_2:

Just because opinion is split doesn't mean the support is.

I hope this is journalist mixing his words.that is shocking stuff to say about the very fans who rallied for him to get the job, then keep it despite losing the league to a * huns team.yes the banner was wrong, yes it was prob the work of a small minority but you shouldn't be slating the people who keep the club alive

Nothing to do with being lofty. Joint pointing out that they make themselves a very easy target for ridicule that is all, and it isnt the best advert for republicanism.

Sean if you knew Tommy, you would know how disgusted and dissapointed he would have been to see last nights banner associated with his Celtic. No question about it.

On most occasions Lennon wouldn't have said anything here.

The spelling jibe is a bit off and im a bit shocked hes came out with this.

At the same time hes clearly talking about those who made the UEFA banner, not the support in general or even particular groups like the GB.

Im not against its sentiment but the banner was a joke. The message as people have said on other threads could have been put across alot better. We've broken a Uefa rule and been duly fined. They have no general grievance against us and they are not some hun controlled organisation conspiring to our downfall.

They set rules and strictly enforce them, if this wasn't the case Celtic wouldn't have been in Italy last night. We broke them and paid a tiny fine.

It is the board that have to be held to account not Uefa. I think we know generally what kind of singing the suits consider undesirable, but attempts have been made to cut out some of the more blatant elements of this (i.e IRA add-ons) and it would be good to know what chants exactly caused the fine so some middleground can be agreed.

I not particularly a fan a republican singing being preferred over songs about the club and players but I feel the the way this has been handled by the club in recent days has been poor.

At the same time I feel elements of support will just play straight into the boards hands, go all gung-ho, protest and be gradually forced out. Which is a shame as working with the club the GB could be huge.

Banner just reeks of laziness and a need to stir controversy. What other purpose could it serve? Just blatant defiance aimed at completely the wrong people.

The banner was stupid but his comments stupid too. The worse thing about it is the media are loving it and has totally overshadowed a good performance with a platform to launch a treble winning run.

There was enough * off field drama last season. We need to concentrate on football and winning the league. :shamrock:

Lennon is 100% right here, if people want demonstrations and sing songs about the ira then why don't they organise protests and go to marches and stop attaching it to Celtic football club.

How about a * the ra banner cause I swear am sick fed up hearing them linked to our club. They have no place at Celtic park. It's this Ira * that got us the fine in the first place. Good on you Lenny!

I'm fed up with it, too.

I'm fed up of people being shocked that I support Celtic, yet don't support the IRA. It's like the two go hand in hand.

I've asked a few people about this now to no avail.

Can you provide proof of anyone saying you are less of a fan for not supporting Republicanism, thanks :50:

If not where does this feeling stem from?
