I have never been to Australia but over my visits I preferred Canada to the UK, hopefully that will change after I go to Glasgow though.:50:

I have only ever been to Canada and UK and I would say Canada by a mile. Much more relaxed way of life, warmer summers(worse winters though snow can get several feet deep) but everything was just a lot better. Dont know about Australia.

I'm pretty sure Toronto actually overtook Vancouver as the most expensive city in Canada this year. Yeah, it'll be cheaper outside of Toronto (I've got cousins in Markham, Unionville, Pickering, Oshawa, Port Perry and just outside of Whitby. Out of all of those... I prefer Pickering. Toronto's a bit of a sprawling metropolis but the transport's good.

Vancouver is more compact, because you're limited with the mountains on the North shore and the Georgia Strait on one side. I just think it has more character and a bit more of a buzz to it, along with the Mountains and ocean being right on the doorstep. (Plus the Toronto Maple Leafs suck and the Canucks are amazing :86:).

Toronto is brilliant in the summer! I spent 3 months there a few years back. Very cOOl, very laid back. Some brilliant festivals.

Been to a fair few places mate and honestly everywhere is more relaxed than the UK.

I really think our summers or lack of have something to do with it. It's depressing. All these other cultures have bbqs, street parties, festivals, carnivals all through summer because they know the weather will be gOOd.

I would say Canada is the best option out of those.
It's more similar to UK/Europe than America, but has all the advantages and cool aspects of life that that States has.

Personally, Aus is to far away, Canada not that far ona flight really (depending on which city you go, obviously).

I hope its not too late, and is relevant in some way, but is New Zealand an option for you?

The North island has the same climate as Sydney or Melbourne, but there are NO poisonous insects or snakes...at all.Fantastic place with the same sort of outdoor sporting mentality as Australia.Thats where i would go if i was younger.

A leafs fan on the island? I knew there were a few over there but poor show. That's just inexcusable :56:

The Leafs are actually my 2nd team. My brother's a hardcore fan. I went to Toronto with him to watch them last October. Was good.

Thanks for the help again ppl...from talking to other people I am swaying more towards Vancouver ...main reasons it's a direct flight from Ireland...winters are rainy but I'm used to that..summers in general are very good...and it was voted the most liveable city in the world...and they love irish!....well still won't be making a call on it until another month or so..have to have more time to think!:)
