I live in Perth and it's definitely the best place in Oz for work. I've also in the past lived on the East Coast though and it's much, much nicer.

Tons more bugs and things to deal with though. Remember waking up one morning and finding a huge fat python casually sitting on the kitchen worktop. :56:

Perth have the most Great Whites and shark attacks in general but at least we don't have those pesky man eating salties over here.

Aye that sounds about right. Was also on the news recently that the Irish population in Oz has increased by 25%. So could be even more now.

Dont go anywhere near the uk and defo stay out of london. I know people who have went and they feel like hanging themselves because teh place is just a shithole, you'd get eaten up over there man, lol. Defo go to oz, itll be the best move youll ever make in life. It will take you awhile to settle but once you do youll love it. Every single person i know who has went to oz doesnt have a bad word to say about it. The weather is fantastic, wages are good and house prices arent that bad. Move there , find yourself an ozzy bird and settle down and get married and thats your ticket to stay there forever, lol

our engineers can make up to £40k and the aberdeen boys off shore make £60k

so the money is not much better your life style should be better thou.

What was your initial thought mate? I would stay well clear of London, I live in Sunderland and I'll happily admit this country is going down the pan faster than Jordans Knickers on a night in the town.

I think Australia mate, you would be on a * mint over there, it's a lovely place over there by all accounts, plus the birds accent.....It's worth going for that alone!

It's not like your going there and you're not allowed to come back, just have a try mate, see how it goes after 6 Months or something, if it's not working out you'll have gained so much life experience and come back here with thousand's of pounds more, I think it's one of them things where if you don't do it, you'll regret it for the rest of your life.

You could even keep a thread going, like a Journal to keep us all updated!

Day 1) I started to watch the A-League.....

    Day 567) I bought Perth Glory :50:

What ever you decide mate, think long and hard, do what YOU think is best.

You make it sound like Heaven Marky!! I'd b doing well to buy Perth Glory on my 567th day out there but i like ur enthusiasm!! Ha

My first though when I got made redundant was OZ ...so many older ppl I talk to say they regret not travelling A bit at my age but I am a bit of a home bird but then again I know a few more home birds that went out der and seem to like it aswell....the only thing drawing me to uk is I would have a secure enough job set up over der for me but then again none of da places available really appeal to me at all in England....

If you get the chance to work in Vancouver take it. I would jump at the chance of living over there. Warmer climate in comparison to the rest of Canada. Very wet winters, but hot and generally good Summers.

    It's an absolutely amazing city.

The brother lives in Australia, doesnt think its all its cracked up to be. Sister used to live there but came home. They say once the novelty of warm weather and beaches wears off, its just like any where else. If I was in your shoes, id go to the UK as its closer to home and family.

UK is the best country in the world apart from the weather, infact wait it's not, it's a shitehole.

Australia would be my first choice.

Vancouver is a very expensive city, house prices are ridiculous. The climate is no better than Toronto, we had a perfect summer this year with maybe 2 days of rain. Vancouver is also another 5-6hr flight from Toronto. So you’re looking at roughly 12-13hrs in a plane to get home. Still less than Australia though. Canadianaffair.com do cheap flights from Toronto and Vancouver to the major airports in the UK so it’s not that expensive to fly back. I moved to Toronto in March and love it so far. The people and culture are great. A huge step up from the UK. Winters are cold but it’s not the damp cold that you get in the UK or Vancouver. It’s a fresh cold so as long as you wrap up warm it’s not a problem.

It's a pretty expensive city in terms of property and things like that, but then again most places are these days. Wages in Oz seem pretty high but the cost of living is higher over there so that kind of makes up the difference.

I try to visit Vancouver at least every couple of years. I've got family over there and I love it. Pretty close to the US too so you're within a 2 hour drive of Seattle, and you've got the mountains right on the doorstep. If you've got any questions on the city ask and I'll try to answer.

That's debatable. Winters in Toronto are generally freezing (really cold) while in VanCity it rarely drops below freezing. It depends on whether you prefer the cold or the rain.

Summers out East tend to get pretty humid too.

In saying that, I love Toronto too and would move there in a heartbeat. I prefer Vancouver though.
