I think Forster has come in for some undeserved criticism this season tbh at the start of the season i was wondering why we had brought him back as i thought zaluska was doing no bad, but i feel Forster has improved this season. Will he be as good as Boruc, no chance. However i think when he reaches his prime he could be a decent keeper for us if we decide to keep him.

So, basically, the question is "Can Forster be the greatest Celtic keeper ever?". The answer is no, definitely not.

Even if Forster didn't divide opinions and everybody agreed he was a very good keeper, he would still never be anywhere near The Holy Goalie.

Boruc was top 5 in the world over a few seasons, world class.

Forster is a young guy with potential, many times better than the general consensus on him but still highly improbable he'll be one of the proper elite.

That being said if he were to sharpen his kicking and start using his frame more he would probably get the plaudits he deserves.

Forster has come on leaps and bounds since last year, and I think he'll continue to improve. Don't think he'll ever be as good as Boruc, who was simply world class, but I really believe that one day Forster will be England no. 1 (if his playing in Scotland doesn't hinder his chances.)

As Celtic keepers that have impressed me go, my order would be:

Packie Bonner, Artur Boruc, David Marshall, Stewart Kerr. I'm leaving Shay Given out as i don't think he played for the first team.

Forster would be in a second string group along with Rab Douglas and Gordon Marshall. He may get better but i can only base my opinion on what i've seen so far and he needs to improve a * of a lot more.

People say "well Boruc was immense." But at one point Boruc was a young goalkeeper too who obviously wasn't quite the finished product he was when we had him.

I don't think Fraser's reflexes will ever be what Artur's were, especially in 1 v 1 situations. However, Fraser may come good in his own right.

I think Forster will be here for another 4 or 5 years, hopefully he can up his game and become half the player Boruc was. Then we'll have a super 'keeper on our hands. :50:

We have no idea if he will turn out great. There are lots of reasonable goalies at that age who dont become great. Boruc was already a very good goalie for Legia when he was 23/24.

Boruc peaked at about 26/27. He went downhill after that.

Very much my thoughts although I would reverse the first two. Glad someone else remembers what a great young goalie Kerr was before the back trouble ruined him

Not really, for us he dropped form but hes back to his best with Fiorentina, though big forster at 22 anythings possible specialy for goalkeepers can play till till they are 40+, look at Ronnie Simpson:celt_2:

Hopefully he´ll learn how to communicate with teammates. I reckon he has massive potential. Hope we sign him on a long contract.

I think it's madness to even ask the question in the first place, but the most important thing is, Forster isn't even ours to talk about anyway, we need to actually sign someone.

Forster is nowhere near Boruc's level nor will he be anytime soon. The lad is still learning and he makes many errors in judgment. He broke an SPL record but imo it was done with help from our defense and the fact the SPL isn't it's strongest right now so imho counts for nothing. (Still a good milestone for him though)

He has potential, huge potential i would say and that's probs why we keep getting the loan rather than a sale as Newcastle will also see that potential, despite what their manager says.

Ps.. Why is Marshal in the same cat as bonner/boruc ect.. the guy should be nowhere near those names.
