Celtic linked with Dortmund star Frei

    Celtic manager Gordon Strachan is rumoured to be considering a move for Borussia Dortmund's swiss striker Alexander Frei.

    Frei has been in good scoring form this season even though Dortmund are currently struggling at the wrong end of the Bundesliga.

    He moved to Dortmund from France for £3 million, and with Dortmund in serious financial difficulties the potential transfer fee would not be beyond the reach of Celtic.

    The german giants were declared bankrupt in 2005 and relegation from the Bundesliga could spell the end for a club which won the Champions League as recently as 1997.

    With Celtic, and particularly all their strikers struggling for goals, Frei could be the solution to all of Gordon Strachan's problems. His departure from Dortmund could spark a bidding war, but it is understood that Celtic aim to be at the front of the queue should his club drop out of Germany's top flight.

      He's got a decent scoring record wherever he has been, not the tallest. Would be a good replacement for Kenny Miller.

      BELLAMY and Frei....explain that one, Frei maybe but Bellamy left Celtic over a year now and there is no link or want by the player to come back so explain this because I'm * sick of this non existent link with Bellamy

      I agree, in fact I am even wondering about regicfc`s comment about partnering JVoH up front, is Hesselink going to be durable enough to be an asset? Who knows! :87:

      I'm prepared to give Hesselink another season, given that he hasnt been injured like this EVER, i will always have faith in players that are having problems with niggly injuries, its not like the aint trying.

      What a player, judging by that he also has a goal to game ratio of exactly every other match.

      That's in stronger leagues and international too, I'd expect him to be putting in 25 goals every season for us if he did join.

      I hope he joins, imagine him and Hesselink up front. Hopefully Riordan stays too as there would be three top class strikers.

      Hopefully I'm not getting too carried away here...

      Maybe unfortunately your getting carried away two times, Frei may never get to Celtic, and I am still not convinced Hesselink will be of much value, he needs to play regular to be of value, and so far that doesnt look to me that will happen?
