JOHN PARK last night insisted Celtic's new £7.5million training base will help him tempt some of the world's biggest stars to the club.
Football development manager Park believes the Lennoxtown set-up can propel the Hoops into the elite of the game when it comes to competing for superstars.
Park was snared from Hibs this year with a remit to scour the globe and identify the type of player manager Gordon Strachan needs to keep his team jousting in the higher echelons of European football.
The former Easter Road talent spotter reckons Celtic's new HQ will give him a key bargaining tool when it opens next term.
Park said: "If two or three clubs are fighting with us for a world-class player and we show them this, I'm sure it could tip the balance in our favour.
"Lots of the top players have big egos and they want a facility like this.
"If you've not got it, it's difficult to attract them to your club.

"It isn't just about wages and a club's involvement in the Champions League.

"Some of these guys feel they need to be pampered on a regular basis and they want a first-class facility.

"We made the last 16 of the Champions League and, hopefully, we can get to the final eight next season and keep doing so.

"If we can do that, I am sure we could attract the world's best players with this facility to back us."

Park is well qualified to speak in such a manner after being courted by some of Europe's best himself.

Jose Mourinho wanted him at Chelsea but he chose Celtic and reckons even the Stamford Bridge millionaires would be impressed by Lennoxtown.

He added: "When you visit the facilities at the top clubs in Europe you come back thinking they are awesome.

"Well, I can tell you that when some of the big clubs around Europe come and have a look at this they'll think it is magnificent.

"To me, Lennoxtown will put us up with the best of them.

"A good example are some of the ones in Italy where they have their retreats up in the hills and mountains. But it will be hard to beat this because this is something else."

SO DOES THIS MEAN CELTIC ARE PURSUING TOP CLASS PLAYERS THIS SUMMER IF THE HEAD SCOUT BELIEVES HE CAN LURE THEM TO CELTIC PARK...??

Plus facilities like this will woo young stars from the continent to choose us over lower table Premiership teams.

Although the new complex is long overdue and miles ahead of Barrowfield, I still can't see the cream of European players coming because of the league we play in, which is a shame.

there will never be 2-3 world class players at cp.

No matter if there are elite facilities.

No one wants to play diddy teams week in week out and risk an injury because of the mistacklings.
Celtic will never be able to offer more money than other top clubs.
the spl is hardly recongized today, super starts want to be on the telly all the time.

How is it a great idea? There players earn enough money to build there own house in ever country in the world, why on earth should Celtic buil them a house?

Would you expect your employer to built you a house?...

it will attract more players, but we still will not get the 'cream' of europe. i wonder what it would have been like for a foreign signing's first tour of celtic park. impressive stadium and then seeing the dump of a training field.

Thats a stupid question why is it a great idea..??

If u were asked to sign for a company and they said we have a million pound house where ure work will be everyday in beautiful surroundings what would u say...??

All i know is lennox town has ground left over which Celtic have bought and there contemplating on building several houses for box office players!

What an advantage for a top player, that Celtic need 2 progress them in the champions league it would work superbly and when he leaves we have a house sitting 2 tempt the next big thing Celtic may be after..!

Whatever about just how good a player it is that will come to Celtic based on our present financial limitations there is no question that having a world class training facility can only help us in signing players and make Celtic a more attractive place to play. As well of course as giving our current players at ll levels a better training facility. It should I would imagine allow us to snap up an even bigger portion of Scottish and Irish youth talent as well.

You've brought up a good point about the land surrounding the training facilities, but rather than using it for luxurious houses for Los Galacticos :56: I'd rather see the club look towards a facility such as La Masia at Barca, where the youth set up is dealt with, including accommodation for kids from outwith the Glasgow (Central Belt) area. All their tutelage in football, school & lifeskills are dealt with & it has proven a great success with Barca - producing players like Puyol, Messi, Xavi & Fabregas.

Now that's something that John Park & Tommy Burns would die for & I'm sure we'd have a much better chance of attracting future Galacticos to Celtic than current ones - this could be what Park was referring to?

Park is hyping up Lennoxtown, plain and simple.

He's using the media to change everyone's perception of Celtic's youth development and how we train our players.

Yes, it can be the be difference between Celtic and another club but World Class players wont stay in the SPL if Hearts and Hibs etc dont make real progress on the potential they have.

i heard this too (don't bite ma heed aff lol) it isnt actually houses there thinking of putting some "luxury flats" next to lennox town which could be offered to high price players as the flats would be estimated to cost round about a million. Also could be sold off for a bit of extra cash.
