His wife and family never moved up from the south coast of England. A solid pro who leaves with our best wishes.

Catch ye Telfer. Done a no bad job at right back but I'll always have my doubts about a man who prefers Golf to Football.

Solid player for us this season, the youngsters at our club will be worse off for having lost this guys wisdom. Cheers Telf, all the best :shamrock:

"Veteran defender Paul Telfer has decided to bring forward his retirement plans and has left Celtic for family reasons.

The 35-year-old, who played more than 500 League games for his four clubs - Luton Town, Coventry City, Southampton and the Bhoys - in an 18-year professional career, has not featured in Gordon Strachan's first-team plans since the Champions League defeat against AC Milan.
A Celtic spokesperson told the club's official website: "It is with great regret that Celtic FC have announced today that Paul Telfer has ended his contract with Celtic for family reasons.
"He has now decided to return to England to be with his family.
"Celtic have reluctantly accepted Paul's decision and we fully respect his request to end his contract with the club. Clearly, everyone at the club wishes Paul and his family all the very best for the future."
Telfer made 57 SPL appearances for the club following his £200,000 transfer from Southampton in July 2005."

Not the Greatest Celt of all time, but I'd like to wish Paul all the best and thanks :50:

    Goodbye Paul.

He wasn't totally crap, he was capable of something. He played well in his last match, the San Siro one.

This may give some space for Perrier-Doumbe though.

lets face it. being 34 - scottish. unproven and unknowen is hardly the best foot to get off on at Celtic.
everyone disliked him - he wasn't what we were after, he was too old. he wasn't fast. he had no future.
IMO i dont have a CLUE how he managed it. he had a rough first 6mnths then just got better and better. he WILL be missed now.

good luck paul telfer and congratulations on managing the near impossiable. and winning over 99% of the celtic suport.
