if were playing one man up front then it has to be samaras all day long. he has done it at international level so well. bearing in mind that it is a "samaras hater" that is saying this.

It's not the formation that counts, it depends on the team selection and the players mentality on the day !!!

big fan of this formation. when ledley, mulgrew & emilio are fit, i'd like to see this:

    --------------forster-----------
    matthews---rogne--mulgrew-emilio
    ---------kayal------wanyama-----
    forrest-------ledley--------mccourt
    --------------stokes-----------------

I actually think the 4132 we played against Udinese at CP was a brilliant formation and worked well. As an earlier poster says 4231 is good defensively but lacks somewhat in creativity. I would go for this (until everyone is fit, then change accordingly) :

    Forster
    Cha Maj Rogne Matthews
    Wanyama
    Forrest Kayal Samaras
    Stokes Hooper

I definitely think Wanyama has enough about him to cover the permanent central defender role himself, and Kayal can drop back if needed. But I suppose if we are winning with 4231, why change it?

We have got to be winning the physical battles on the field then go on and play our football. Most of the teams in the league have been giving us a hard time physically eg Rangers,Hearts, hibs ect,ect but i believe this is changing as the last couple of results show. Its not always going to be pretty but you just need to look across the city they have turned it into a art form.
