I've not seen much of him at Leeds but he's looked fairly comfortable playing for RoI. Based on the couple of times I've seen him this season and in agreement with what many have said, he gives his all for the club and that's what's been missing recently, I'd have him back. He certainly can't be any worse than the dross we've got there just now. O'Dea, K Wilson, Mulgrew and Rogne....punt the rest.

Also far too slow for Celtics style. I am undecided about Wilson but at least he is fast. Probably Wilson-Mulgrew is the best we have.

maybe the reason the pubs are empty on matchday is because of the recession, down south in ireland gaa is the big sport aswell

Gunt are you trying to argue that Darren O'Dea isn't a die hard Tim?

Mark Wilson is also a die hard Tim but he hasn't got the same attitude as O'Dea. Don't see where his nationality comes into it.

I hate the fact that every time Celtic talk about an Irish player; you seem to have a dig at there 'Celtic credentials' as it where. It's not about their nationality, it's about their attitude and knowing what the club is about.

The fact that this was also always applied to Stephen McManus should show you that.

Its just a pattern I have noticed over the years that our Irish players are often described as somehow being more diehard to the cause etc. However, in this case I accept that O'D coming through the youth is probably more important. Anyway, I dont want to derail the thread on this subject. It was just a passing muse. Bottom line is I think he is no better (and in the opinion of several managers worse) than various sub-standard slow CHs we have collected. Definately not the answer unless he really has miraculously developed. Its not impossible to suddenly take a leap in ability as Charlie Mulgrew has shown (baffles me because he was poor for many years).

Why do you visit bars around the country on matchday to see how many people are wearing celtic tops? You are only presuming then. I hear alot of scots on here having digs at the Irish because they once visited a bar that was showing a Man Utd game over Celtic, as to say because they are in Ireland that everyone should be showing Celtic games and wearing Celtic tops. At the end if the day Man Utd are the most supported team in Ireland and have been ever since the days of George Best and more recently Roy Keane and it's only natural that pubs will show the games that will bring in the most people. Anyway Gunt Celtic have more support in the six counties than the south, and I know that through experience.

In fairness to gunt, he is somewhat right. During the MON years celtic pubs were packed out but these days the numbers have dropped. Some people have defected to the EPL clubs. But at the same time i know a lot of people who just watch the matches in the house because of cost etc.

That is true without a doubt, and Donegall too. Probably the biggest concentration of Celtic support outside west-central Scotland. Dont get me wrong I really admire people who go to games from Donegal or Belfast etc and all the real Celtic-only supporters in Ireland. They are probably the most committed group of Celtic fans there are.

What I am commenting on though is the experience of many on holidays in the republic of Ireland of the difficulty in finding the pub that shows the Celtic games in many of the towns and when you do there often being very few there.

Anyway, I dont want to derail this thread so I will start another on this subject.

To be honest i wouldnt say that celtic were any better supported in donegal than man utd or liverpool. Plenty of lads have no interest in scottish football.

just repeating what I already posted but to be fair The Players Lounge in Dublin often turned off Man utd, Liverpool Games to show a Celtic match an all its screens . Celttic games always shown no matter who else are playing

Donegal is the place where the majority of Irish immigrants to Glasgow came from. I think there was an incredible proportion from just one county.

I would agree with that. I have been to Donegal many times and there is a big support for the English sides, but surprisingly not that many Celtic fans. The papers dont report the SPL that much either.

I was genuinely surprised. I dont know what it is like in the other counties.

I think we could do with him back in the team.

    * knows how this derailed from gettin' O'dea back to what places support us but to put it back on topic my answer is No.

I'd rather we got someone else.

Donegals a big county, what parts do you visit. To my experience, the Letterkenny area has loads of tims but also it's fair share of EPL fans and Finn Harps fans.

Yeah there used to be a boat from derry to glasgow back in the day and loads of donegal people ended up in glasgow. There is still loads of celtic fans here but i think some of the scottish lads think that there is more celtic fans in donegal than what there really is.
