Charlie has got more to worry about..this is a non story!

Shouldn't be anywhere near our midfield and should be cover for VVD and Izzy..

    A good squad player..

I don't necessarily agree either but on that night emotions would have been running high which players need to bear in mind as if you are spotted walking out the stadium laughing then you're only asking for trouble.

Remember being in a nightclub in Southampton the year they were relegated from the Premiership and they had just been heavily beaten at home but yet there were five or six key players doing karaoke, signing, dancing etc on stage displaying more energy than they had that day and they wondered why all * broke loose with fans kicking off.

Sensible fans have more restraint but there is always the minority or majority however you look at it you think they pay the players wages so entitled to have a pop - whether they are right or wrong to do this is a subject of much debate.

Everyone has a right to air their views.

Fans have the right say what they think.

Players have the right to respond.

If you want to step up and criticise a guy, its fair enough if they chose to defend themselves.

If you stand up and abuse a guy, be prepared to get abuse in return.

Charlie played very poorly, and probably knows it. We have grounds to complain, but folk seem to think it gives right to abuse players. Don't agree with that. Its the same stupidity that keeps racisim in the game.

No he should never be the first name on the team sheet, he should be used as a back up player.

Critcism is very different from abuse though. People forget that.

depending on how good denayer turns out to be he should either be starting centre back or back up for there and left back, think its totally out of the question to have him anywhere near the midfield

I love it how Mulgrew is taking pelters for calling somebody a "wee ned" when it's more thsn likely some * who he has never met was giving him absolute * dogs abuse.

Double standards eh? "You play for the team I support, you had a bad game so Im allowed to verbally abuse you in any way I wish, and you're not allowed to say anything back......."

guy has some qualities his reading of the game his passing is good

but hes too slow and that is something that can't be allowed

i think even in the scottish competitions if opp players were to sit on him he'd not be able to fullfill his duties as a celtic player basically because he takes a week to turn its like a fooking bus and he's no acceleration or pace

quick players preying on charlie is a nightmare for celtic and that's what was happening to him in europe

gutted that ronny and collins never noticed it tbh, although he wasnt by far the only reason for us failing in the qualifiers

Where in Charlies statement has he mentioned anything about Trackies, Tonic, trainers or how much money he earns?

See this whole "I pay your wages so I can give you abuse & criticism" deal, does it only apply to football? Or other vocations?

For example, can I nip into Tesco and start shouting at * if the self-service machines aren't working and the queue at the till is too long?

What about if i'm on the train to the city centre and it stops in between stations and sits there for a while because of a fault on the line? Can I start going mental, yelling abuse and suchlike at the driver and ticket guy?

After all, I pay their wages, right?

I doubt he meant it in the way it's being taken TBH. In an ideal world words like ned wouldn't be used because they are so often used as a vehicle for class prejudice (that I doubt Mulgrew shares); but to focus this on Mulgrew is to blow an extremely minor transgression way out of proportion while studiously ignoring much more serious abuse directed towards him.

The abuse towards some of our players is surprising these days. My guess is it's one more symptom of the alienation fans experience regarding club and players. We badly need a return to the days when TB was continuing tradition and doung stuff like sending Cadete in a taxi to a CSC event. Might even help the atmosphere at CP if fans feel like fans and not consumers.

Thinking about it, that may even be one factor in this culture of entitlement we have now. That's exactly how consumers think: I've paid my money, I'm entitled to X,Y or Z.

As I understand it we only have Mulgrew's side of what happened. How do we know it was a 'wee ned' who 'abused' him? That 'wee ned' could have been any of us.

I don't like people heckling players but at the same time I also don't like someone like Mulgrew using his Twitter account and profile to call people 'so-called fans'. I find that arrogant and irresponsible, especially after a sore defeat.

These 'so-called fans' pay his wages just as much as any other.

    But as someone said, it's a non-story.

I worked at McDonalds 14 years ago and, yes, there is a culture of abusing service staff in the UK whenever people are allowed to get away with it. Absolutely. Hence those ubiquitous posters in places where you're not.

No, it only applies to sport. Unless you get as excited at Tesco as you do at CP.

We've no evidence in his statement of the "abuse" either. He doesn't give much detail apart from to present himself as a greviously wounded party and to call someone else a 'so-called fan' and a 'wee ned'.
