Been thinking a lot recently about the youth players we have that are talented but i dont think will get into our first team. The problem with us is that we demand instant success and wouldn't be happy if we blooded 3 or 4 youngsters and it led to us losing the league, obviously.

I think it would be a great idea!

    1. The players would develop playing against older players who are stronger and more experienced.

    2. If it works in spain it will work here. The team just cant be promoted into the same league as us.

    3. We can support them like we do with the first team. When there is international breaks, we can still go and see our team play, albeit being the B side.

    4. Surely we would make money out of it also with higher gate receipts.

I heard talk a while back about us and them putting B sides into the lower leagues. What does everyone think about that?

B side is a great idea.

Would probably have to stay in Div. 2 or 3 though

If we ran it like Spain they would probably start in Division 3 and could only get promoted as far as the 1st Division. i.e. if they won the 1st Division they would still have to stay in it, happened to Barca's B team before I'm sure :50:

Fans have been calling for this for years ever since they done away with the Reserve League.

I'd love to see it happen but as with everything else in this country unless the SFA are willing to consider changes it'll never happen.

The only other obstacle might be smaller clubs having the finances available for extra policing. Yes they might get bigger crowds against us and them but would it cover policing?

Would be a great idea, not only for us but for Scottish football in general. It would massively improve attendance (just like we do in the SPL) Im all for it.

We would need to start in the Div 3 first no way should a side have the given right to start at the 1st Div level.

Ok the thread title was wrong. They would need to start at the bottom and work up. Unless with the league reconstruction they are added.

Without the reserve league i think this makes sense! I know i would pay to go watch them in what ever league they are in and i know a lot of you would as well! So that can only be good for us, the lower leagues and scottish football as a whole!

    Who said no?

Edit: Sorry, Pope, just saw it was you. Agreed that if this was to happen they should start in the 3rd, fine by me.

They wouldn't be able to play in the same league as us.

When teams come from the highland league etc (peterhead for example) how do they go about gaining a place in the SFL as there is no relegation from the 3rd. Anyone have any info?

No. We need our youngsters playing against a better quality of player and playing a better brand of football than hoof up the park stuff.

Sorry do not agree with what your saying it done the likes of James Mc Carthy , Dorrans ,Snodgrass no harm in their Football schooling look at the amount of games young Mc Carthy got at 16 . it would bring our kids on a lot faster for me .

Mr Stein tried to get our reserves doing this in the 60's/70's as far as I can remember it was thrown out by the governing bodies then, and I suspect it would be again.

Shame as it would probably benefit all involved.
