I am one of many fans on here who have been season tickets holders for longer than i can remember . Every year the season ticket reminders come in earlier and earlier . We buy the replica shirts for the family and we spend at the canteen at halftime

Yes there has been some great times and to be fair we were maybe spoilt a bit with the the team we had in the MON era.

But i was paying not much less for my season ticket when we were attracting top class players to celtic and paying them big wages . Im paying more money now and watching absolute dross on the park.

Fans on here really do have rose tinted glasses on and Liewell and Co have done a great job on them for them not to see that we are being conned. There is very few players in our current squad who are worthy of wearing a celtic strip.

We have been palmed off with a manager who is only in the job because hes cheap along with his backroom staff who were moaning not long ago how poor there packages were .The 4 of them should be shown the door.

We could have bankrupt rangers 3 seasons ago but for penny pinching . we had the chance to sign players over and over and wouldnt part with the money .we get names banded about everytime they want us to pay for season tickets knowing fine well they have no intention of signing them .

we need to back the team but we need to protest to the board at their lack of ambition. I could give a toss about balance sheets . i care about trophies.

Fans are turning away . Money for lots of fans is getting harder to come by and we are taken for granted.I really dont think the board and players realise how many hours some fans have to work to pay for their season ticket books , how much it costs a father and son to travel from outwith glasgow to attend games.

what do we all think

I agree that we are being taken for mugs by the board and I totally agree that tbh the only reason Lennon has the job is because it was the cheapest option available. I don't agree they should be shown the back door though.

Lenny and friends will be gone - don't know who'd replace them. I'm sure this won't happen but I still think we'll win the league this year.

Football, like the world at large in the last twenty or thirty years, has become very cynical and cash obsessed.

I hope it all implodes, especially down south. There's talk that the banks may call time on the huge debts driven up down there.

I agree the board treat us like *, much as the old dynasties almost used to. While the prudence has been sensible they have been ultra cautious and handed the huns a lifeline too often.

However you can't blame them for Mowbray * up, they backed him to the hilt and he was *. Plus there have been good bits of business like McGeady and getting rid of various imposters like Miller, Beattie for good money.

Depressing rather than interesting.

Lennon would need to go, and I dread to think about who his replacement would be. Mark McGhee or someone of that ilk........

There were many of us saying exactly that at the time mate. We could have done Rangers then without the help of the taxman. It infuriates me thinking about it, had it been the other way around they would not have hesitated to kill us off. Perhaps thats the mind set change that needs to happen at CP and the team.
After yesterday's inept second half performance in particular I think its a question worth posing.

Agree with some of your points, disagree with others.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />

Yes the board could have and should have done more, however, we simply can't afford the calibre of players we had under MON, a player costing £6m in 2000 would cost £15-£20 million in today's inflated market and the hard truth is we simply can't afford that.

However, we could have afforded to invest more in the defence, something that has been required for 5 years now and yet is always ignored we could have and should have invested more in our defence. Now whether that is down to Lenny not identifying the type of players we needed or whether the board didn't sanction the funds is anyone’s guess.

A football team still has to balance their books or they will go under and while I'm glad the club is being run prudently, it's too prudent in my view, we don't have to have zero debt we can live with a manageable debt of around 6-10 million in my view, money that could have been invested in the team, especially with interest rates so low just now.

Another worry is the size of the squad, we have too much dross that is never going to get anywhere near the first team, if no-one wanted to buy them then they should have been released on a free to get them off the wage bill and free up wages for players who would actually improve the first team.

There are fans who think the board are perfect and will never criticise them, equally there are fans that are still expecting us to sign players the calibre of Sutton and Hartson when reality dictates that that calibre of player is now out of our reach. However, imo, we are in the middle, it's good that we have a sound financial footing and it is a necessity to be completely self sustainable, however, further investment was required and could have been afforded so in my view the board are being too prudent.

completely agree if we lost this league season ticket sales would decline dramatically and who would want the celtic job I could see the board maybe going back for strachan .

I think Moyes would be up for it. H e has no money at Everton and must be * bored of the same * year after year. Don't buy into this prem is the best league in the world crap, it will begin to dissolve soon.

Strachan will never be back at Celtic Park, IMO.

And neither will Moyes.

is it really just down to transfers though ? to a point yes but we need correct leadership and direction . no point in throwing good money at bad . get the foundations right first

didnt anyone see the interm results?

we all se where the money goes ffs.aye maybe they should have done more.

our problem just now is the defence. we are not dominant in that area and its an area where its putting preassure on the rest of the team to do well.

we need to sort out our defence asap for real now no fannying about anymore.

These are the same players who were unbeaten at Ibrox last season and nobody mentioned a thing. Now they are "not worthy of wearing the hoops." Typical blame the board thread after an OF defeat. The only people to blame are Lennon and the players. As i said these guys were undefeated at Ibrox last season so they are capable. Lennons team selection was just pathetic.
