Brown was arguably the best player in the first half and the only one that really tried anything. He should've come off earlier in the second because he wasn't fit.
Samaras was decent in the first with his knock-ons but wasn't hold the ball up. I've been super-critical of Sammy's last few performances but he wasn't terrible here.
Loovens did little wrong in my view and he's been solid in almost all his appearances since the end of last season.

I've voted that Lenny's learning and there's still plenty of good signs. I was * gutted yesterday but if you look at the big picture; 3 goals away from winning the treble last season, dominated the majority of Old Firm games last season and made a ridiculous amount of progress from the team Lenny inherited to the team we see now... oh and we also won a trophy. The fact of the matter is that we're not always going to get the results we want. I think we put in a decent display at Ibrox yesterday but Lenny's post-match comments were right; we came out in the second half and the players took their foot off the gas and never got back on it. The only real mistake I saw Lenny make was moving Mulgrew to left back when he already had a yellow. I don't think you can fault the starting line-up because we dominated the first half and went in with the lead. Overall, I think there are enough positive signs to stay the * off of Lenny and keep supporting the team.

    No we didn't.

We were pretty mediocre and tbh were lucky to be in the lead. Barring a 15 minute spell, we were absolutely rotten.

TBF, you're right. But just switching off in the 2. half probably means he didn't inspire the team to keep playing like they ended the 1. half. Motivation/cockiness issue he could've avoided, I believe. You cannot play well only 25 minutes and think you'll win. Continuity is needed.

Got to disagree. We were away from home and limited them in chances and possession. We gave them their goal with a * clearance. Sure we were lucky to get our second goal but on the balance of play were were at least worth a draw going in at the half. "Absolutely rotten" is a gross overstatement... unless you're talking about us in the second half :54: The second half let down I really think is a combination of going in with too much confidence and never getting off the back foot. I think Lenny could've been more proactive here by maybe bringing on Ledley for Sammy to shore up the left side of the park but then we'd have no out-ball because Hooper couldn't hold up *. If he'd brought on Ledley for Hooper and moved Sammy forward he'd have got slaughtered.
I don't know. I'm maybe trying to be too positive but I don't think it's a doom and gloom as most here.

after losing to ross county in the semi of the cup he should never have been remotley considered for the job. However the board went for the cheap option as always and the fans let them. This team has no heart or desire and is gutless and i hope i am wrong but i cannot see it winning the title yes the hun will drop points but so will we and more often sadly

His team selection is absolutely nuts at times.
We need a good Centre back, invest £3m in one in January, a proven Balde-esque guy.

Still learning but he can't keep making the same mistakes. Yesterday was a disaster from many points. No Ledley? Again breaking up the proven partnership of Stokes and Hooper for a guy who doesn't score goals, set up goals and imo brings very little to the table.

If he doesn't learn from these mistakes he'll be gone at the end of the season. Which I don't really want to happen but he needs to start stepping up big time.

Still learning but not quick enough. I think that if we can't beat the huns at home in December, we may have to start thinking about other people for the job.

I don't want Lenny to go, honestly I don't, but if we lose the next derby game he just may have to leave for the benefit of the club.

Totally agree with everything said here :50:

We tried the "mentor" type of things in the past as well and look how well they worked out. Remember Jock Brown anyone? He was appointed as a "General Manager" to work with the manager (Wim Jansen, who Brown helped to bring to the club which ended up being a good move but reportedly turned sour between the two of them, and then Jo Venglos).

Before anyone says "yeh but Jock Brown wasn't experienced in being anything like a manager of a football club", we then had Kenny Dalglish as "Director of Football" to work alongside John Barnes. Well, we all know what happened there.

This two manager thing and mentor role, in my opinion, does not work as it can be come a case of too many indians and not enough chiefs. But it would be insulting to Lennon, as mentioned by Minty, because it would be like him having a babysitter at the age of 40.

one derby defeat at Ibrox (1 from 4) does not a bad manager make. but he did get it wrong yesterday.

Thank * some common sense; I'm as annoyed as anyone at Lennon's decisions and tactics yesterday but the constant "SACK HIM" after every bad result does my * in. Our support is extremely fickle at times; he was bound to lose at Ibrox sooner or later, it happens, we move on. Bearing in mind we've lost the first derby game every season for the last 5 years yet the season doesnt end in september ffs.

Long way to go this season.

Option two for me as well.

I'm still gobsmacked about yesterday. I will never forget my sense of shock and disbelief when he kept Mulgrew on and moved him to full back!

An error of breathtaking proportions! :54:

The clock is ticking now on Lennon regardless of what we say here.

That is the nature of managing Celtic/Rangers. I still believe the league can be won outside the OF games, however that does not detract from the massive impact it has on morale and supporters.

Last season we dropped points to Hamilton FFS, that cannot happen this season, I'll be more * at that kind of result this year than losing at Ibrox.

Its not easy winning at Mordor at this stage in the season, especially when we are not strong at the back and missing a commanding Midfield boss/toughman/shitkicker.

Lennon must must must sign 'men' and not boys for our backline, and play a consistent side, settle a strong formation (don't say 3 at the back...it will not work with our current defenders)....the proof will be at the end of the season...for now he has my backing.....but by a baw hair.

Just a point from me is that I never intended this thread to be taken as a 'sack Lennon' kind of slant. I just wanted to know how TC posters thought he was going in this whole learning process.

I want Lennon to stay. I also want him to start learning from his mistakes. His team selection is at times baffling and consistent players are dropped. We lack continuity, which is exactly what we had as we went on our great run after Christmas last year. Wasn't until Kayal got injured and the team changed that we stopped performing and eventually got beaten by ICT.

Pick yer strongest team the same for every game Lenny. We should be dictating games and playing our own game. * everyone elses.
