Lennon attacker jailed

  1. John Wilson got 8 month and a 5 year banning order

Prison for Hearts fan over Neil Lennon abuse

A football fan cleared of assaulting Celtic manager Neil Lennon has been jailed for eight months for a breach of the peace at the match.
John Wilson, 26, was accused of a sectarian attack on the football boss as his side played Hearts at Tynecastle stadium in Edinburgh on 11 May.
A jury at Edinburgh Sheriff Court found the charge against him not proven.
The decision came despite Wilson telling the court he had lunged at Lennon and struck him on the head.
However, Wilson, 26, a Hearts fan, was convicted of carrying out a breach of the peace at the side of the pitch during the game.
The court previously heard claims, denied by Wilson, that he had called Mr Lennon a "* *" at the Clydesdale Bank Premier League game.
He was cleared of making the sectarian remark during the incident after jurors deleted the allegation from the breach of the peace charge.

so what do you have to do to get a life ban then

  3. turn up with a tricolour with IRA written on it. is that not what happened to the roaster who did that at Parkhead 2 seasons ago? i'm pretty sure he has to report to a cop shop every time we're playing a game, could be wrong though.

  4. Let the farce continue.

  5. The judge obviously took into account the previous farce. He'll be out in half that of course.

I take it a banning order is where you contact the local cops as a game starts so they know you're not there?

  6. Announced on SSN - jailed for 8 months with 5 year banning order (thought that would have been life)

Still disappointed about the verdict but good to see that something has actually been done.

They had to make an example of him and hopefully this will send a message to others that such behaviour cannot & will not be tolerated.

Hope this helps Neil to move on from the matter too!

What's the usual sentence for your run of the mill assault?

8 months seems fair to me. Just hope he has to serve the whole sentence and comes out black and blue.

  8. Got a link mate can't find it on SSN? :50:

  9. They took it back to may so basically done 4 month already . they should gave him 8 month from now. But good to see this stuff will be dealt with and hopefully we can look forward to football matters only.

  10. Has he been on remand for the whole time between the incident and now? If so would that mean he'll only be in another couple of weeks before he'll more than likely get out ?

  11. * got off light:31:

  13. *!!! So basically this * only does 4 pishy months mabey even 3 and a half months, how can this be a canny get my head around it and probably never will get my head around the justice system in this cuntry the strathclyde and lothian n borders joke forces are the puppets on the street and the fat racist ones at the top ie judges, mps,QC's are going on reports by them. thats why he got off wae it.

    what jails he in?

usually mate, a just canny see how adimting attacking someone never mind a high profile member of a massive football team and you only get 8mnths, serve half of that. and banned for five years.

Right ok its 8mnths for a breach which is quite heavy, but if the idiotic procuratour fiscal had done there job right in the first place he would be looking at a much bigger strech instead they just had to put this religious predjuce infront of the assault which ultimately was the reason for the collapse of the assault charge

Lets see if the mini huns ban him for life ?????

  15. Watching the news there, because he has done 4 months already he could be out of jail today

  16.
  17. Given the state of the Scottish legal system then he'll most probably be out in a few weeks.

  18. Aye I just heard that on the radio. His sentence gets backdated to when he was jailed after the incident absolute joke.

  19. What a terribly run country. A little, unimportant *-hole with a big opinion of itself.
