We could be in trouble if we lose a defender to injury, it's true. But hopefully we'll have Loovens :)56:) and Rogne back to full match fitness soon and provide us with a bit of defensive cover. Or maybe the O'Dea deal or the Towell one has an option for us to recall him...who knows?

I'm not happy with our defence at all, but we're going to have to power on. Why complain now when the window is closed?

Laughable that people are dismissing Wanyama after one game, a game that he actually played pretty well.

K.Wilson and Mulgrew as our first choice pairing with Rogne and Wanyama as back up should be more than good enough for the SPL.

I'd have liked to have seen someone with experience come in as well (Ridgewell would've been ideal) but despite getting rid of Hooiveld, O'Dea and Thompson on loan we still have six centre backs at the club, and that's not including Toshney who could make the breakthrough as well.

So until we get rid of Loovens, Hooiveld, O'Dea and Maj on a permanent basis it's unrealistic to expect us to sign anymore. Good news is three of those diddies are out of contract next summer anyway.

You'll not be laughing in a few months time when he's played a bit more. A lot of our fans have watched him during pre-season, as well. The penny will drop...he's another dud.

Mulgrew ( along with Chris Commons, sadly now a mile away from that form ) was our stand out performer for the second half of last year,i.m.o. Yes he messed up against Motherwell but then all his team mates messed up at some point in the run in, including Izzi and Kayal at times. I reckon Charlie has the ability to be a stand out footballing Centre Back and i would be perfectly happy seeing him as a fixture there. Giving my age away ,he reminds me of Alan Hansen as a young player and he was the finest of his generation (McCleish and Miller included).

Nothing should be judged on pre-season games, they are just there for the players to get match fitness and nothing else and to then judge a player based on that is madness.

Lucky we didn't all judge a certain Swedish striker on one game.

I said this at the end of last January window & will repeat it again,
This CB problem has not been addressed & it's going to come back to bite us.
It did, at ICT at the end of last season & I dread it, but looks like it's going to happen again this season.
*, help us. I can't take another season of heartache & pain, if the Huns go on to win again.

We had the best defence in the league last year and we have only conceded two goals in 5 league games this season, ICT game alone didn't cost us the league, 3 home draws before Christmas was the killer.

One of those games did highlight one of the concerns I have for the team, not enough goals from corners, was it 17 or 18 corners we had against killie at home and still drew one each and of the 18 or so corners think we made their keeper make about two saves. :38:

I dont think Wanyama will ever make a CB at our club, or a midfielder.

The CB positions are okay, nothing more, Lennon perhaps wants to look at bringing Rogne back into the fold. A young player who did so well last season. A solid no-nonsense CB who would do well alongside Wilson. Mulgrew as well would be a good option.

Sadly though Maj looks like he has aged 10 years from the player that came in last season.

Yeah, I know that mate. I wasn't judging his physical natural or his tactical awareness, etc. Those things can be improved with training and match preparation. It's the fact that he doesn't have a first touch and looks like he's never kicked a football before that worries me.

    Rogne is injured, again!

If the lad ever gets himself fit and plays alongside a good solid CB with a bit of experience he'll be a great player but he's not getting a chance with the injuries he constantly seems to pick up.

Wilson looks good, as does Mulgrew and these two would be my pairing of choice.

Rogne (when fit), Maj, Loovens, Wanyama & Toshney for back up.

Also Mark Wilson filled in here last season when we were seriously depleted in CBs and performed well enough!

We have plenty of CBs at present so should be ok in this department but I do see the point that it would have been good to replace some - 2 out (Loovens & Maj) and 2 in.

Let's see what happens between now and January and during the next window!

For now, let's get right behind the team and manager!

    Hail Hail
