Strachan was a Legend in my eyes and always has been. I loved the guy but i see no reason to bring it up now. The fans were mixed. I disagreed with the people who didn't like him. Simple as that. You can't make people like someone.

I know that insulting someone for no particular reason is pointless. I get you're having a bad night, me too by the way. But point it in the right direction eh.

It has to be said though, Strachan at times did have the same problem as Lenny with in-game decisions and subs etc. Looking at it now though we were spolied under Strachan in Europe.

Good post, bar the boring football. I liked Strachan. He was straight, spoke his mind, he was successful. His team wasn't as good as MON but how could you expect to top MON team. It did and still does * me off at how he was treated. So much for the best fans.....:87: We got what we deserve. One Scottish Cup, * huns teams winning the league x3, no CL can't, beat a mickeymouse Swiss team, and fecking Samaras!:31:
    Hail Hail!

His time at Celtic is drastically overrated by the fans because of the lack of recent success. The Huns side he was up against was even worse than this one. We actually spent a bit more money than we do now.

His football was horrible to watch and there were plenty of games like Sunday under WGS. The performance away to Hibs at the end of his final season was one of the most infuriating days in my life as a Celtic supporter.

That is nonsense. During his three in a row Rangers got to the CL last 16 and the UEFA cup final. During the same three years we did the last 16 of the CL twice. Scottish football was a lot lot stronger judging by how the teams did in Europe then and now.

Strachan is a good man ,I always found him very charasmatic
Everyone has forgotten that time he brought kids on to the pitch to meet the players after the league win at Kilmarnock in 07

Strachan had a team with character and intelligence which made up for a lack of mega quality. He was a very clever manager whose tactics, subs, formations etc baffled fans but worked. You just cant argue with a guy who came within a game of 4 in a row and did two CL last 16s. He was a very very clever mananger at Celtic, too advanced in his ideas for a lot of fans with the attack and score more than they score mentality.

I know, that comment about what is happening now is making the strachan era look better was laughable.

I remember the strachan era as being great because.........well, it was great!

The last 16 twice in 2 years, beating some of the best teams in Europe and winning 3 in a row and domestic trophies every year he was here.

    Yep, certainly over rated! :bbpd:

    Nonsense, really?

You think the Huns side under PLG was better than the current one? Absolute * bullshit.

I don't give a * about what they did or didn't do in Europe. One of the Huns side he was up against couldn't even finish above Hearts. That says enough.

Neither do I, but that was one of the reasons mooted at the time.

It seemed the media pushed that particular reason though.

I never said specific results were overrated, did I? I said his tenure as a whole was overrated. The success is undeniable but there were certain factors which contributed to that success. A more ambitious board. A * Huns side.

Our performances in both the matches you mention were nothing special, the way you're bringing them up you'd think we'd * them off the park when in reality we relied on two moments of absolute magic from two of the best Celts in recent memory (Naka and Boruc). AC Milan was a brilliant result but our goals were lucky if you're being honest. That cannot be attributed to WGS and his management ability.

Would I take those days back? Yes, in a heartbeat because it's not working with Neil at the moment but just because it isn't working presently doesn't mean we should start going overboard with Strachan and his time at Celtic.

In his final season with us we were hopeless and if we're being honest, we were absolutely pish in the 3IAR season too. Two of WGS' seasons were total dominance on the domestic front but the final two were extremely poor.

You are the only person I have ever heard who doesnt think Rangers hit all time lows of ability last season. The whole SPL standard has sunk to an all time low including us and Rangers.

Anyway, whatever you think of Rangers during three in a row, Strachan did it in Europe too in those years. Gave us our greatest ever achievement in the CL. You cant win domstically and do that in Europe too if you dont have something. We were absolutely light years away from all that now and in the present rotten state we are in when we cant even qualify for the Eoropa 2 seasons in a row under Lenny.

Strachan needs to tutor Lennon. He has the wisdom Lenny doesn't have yet. The man was a genius, adapted us so well to Scottish football.

The Strachan era was great? * *. The O'Neill era was what I'd call great. He beat the Huns when they actually had quality players and were throwing money at players left, right and centre.

I stand by my opinion that people are looking back at the WGS era and exaggerating how great the times were because of how depressing they are now.
